The following laptops use the same motherboard, and others may also be compatible. Check if your motherboard reads as 1977 in CPU-z or in your ACPI tables

HP Pavilion Models:
17-E019DX
17-E040US
17-E053CA
17-E088NR
17-E116DX
17-E140US
17-E146US
17-E153CA
17-E161NR
17-E162NR
15-e101TU
15-e102TU
15-e103TU

Your laptop should have a Intel 4xxx series processor. If it does not, some things may not work in this guide but you can try it anyways. 3xxx processors need some modifications.
All of these laptops will support all haswell i3 and i5 processors that are 37 watts, the best compatible processor is the i5-4340M

This screen (AUO B173HW01 V5) is amazing, it displays the entire sRGB color space at 1920x1080 (1080p). It is also anti-glare, and looks better than the old 17" MacBook Pro (2010) that I used to have. If you buy on ebay, make sure it's the exact model not a replacement/compatible/evasive wording. In fact, just ask if the exact model is an AUO B173HW01 V5

My zip folder includes drivers for the Dell 1550 and possibly other wifi cards. It also includes drivers for many bluetooth devices. Keep this in mind. You can buy a Dell 1550 wifi card and wifi/bluetooth will magically work after you follow this guide.

If you have a different processor than an i3-4000M, generate your own SSDT and replace ssdt-gen.aml with the one you generated
This file is located in EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/ and you will need to delete this file if you have a different processor and create a new one once you finish step 4.

How to generate your own SSDT for power management:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-laptop-support/146870-guide-native-power-management-laptops.html

Dual boot is possible, just request help and I'll add it to the guide.

Step 1:
Download the attached zip file

Step 2:
Prepare a USB as usual using clover:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html

Step 3:
Mount the EFI, you can use this if you want:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=220
Delete the EFI folder
Copy the EFI folder from the zip you downloaded

Step 4:
Install OSX and when everything is done, eject and remove your USB
Install clover with default settings to your system drive
Mount your EFI on the system drive (Make sure its not the flash drive EFI, thats why you unplug it)
Delete the EFI folder and copy mine over
Install kexts (from the SLE folder in my zip file) into /System/Library/Extensions with "Kext Wizard"

Many thanks to RehabMan for making this possible! Many of his kexts are used, and he helped me to get everything working!

You should actually describe the process of making the patched DSDT/SSDT files.

No one else can use your files as they are specific to your machine (even small differences in machine configuration can result in different native ACPI files).

Where is your "zip folder"? I would like to try your files, as I have almost exactly same configuration Lenovo G510, and still can't get into installer (repeating KPs)...

Read compatibility overview: http://www.tonymacx86.com/laptop-compatibility/106791-laptop-compatibility.html

Use Clover: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...oting-os-x-installer-laptops-clover-uefi.html

Also, you will find many of the stickies here useful: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-laptop-support/

Not nice to hijack a thread that is unrelated to your hardware.

This is for HP models only, post your problems and screenshots of the kernel panic elsewhere.

OP could you please upload or provide link for zip. I have a 17-e040us and am trying to enable brightness control and power management. I managed to fix graphics but your files may help as our laptops are very similar to each other.

*crickets* -- as usual.

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html

Although you should read the FAQ for an overview of issues, the Clover guide is linked from the first question: "Q. Where do I start?", just after the bold face "Clover Guide".
Here is a direct link, just to be clear:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

Also, your profile must be filled out with complete details as requested in the FAQ, again under "Q. Where do I start?". All seven details requested are equally important.

And if you have an issue (after following the guide), or on any other problem, you must provide a detailed description of the problem including information that helps us understand what you're doing. Always attach "Problem Reporting" files as per FAQ.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html
The required files and data are fully detailed in the last question in the FAQ:
"Q. What are typical "Problem Reporting" files?"
