front i/o?

I gutted my power mac g5 case and this is how my front i/o works. am i suppose to be able to take that chip out or what? i am literally confused with what i can do with that. Is there even anything i can do? i am noob

Well what do you want to do with it lol?

If you want to remove it then the two little screws there are the ones to remove.

i want to be able to use it. but it does not seem to have the pins like other g5 mods i saw here or am i missing something?

No it doesn't, can you get a nicer pic of it with some light maybe.
I think I know what one it is but not too sure.

looks like the late 2005 g5 front panel.

you can do a straight swap with the i/o from an older model.
afaik, there isnt any documentation on getting that one working

I wanted to make sure it was that rare one lol.

youd know more about this than me, but arent all the pre-late 05 g5s (the easy front panel) green, whereas the late 05/mac pro front panels blue.

also, the connector which is present on the green FP isnt there on the op's photo

Yeah but that is why It threw me off as he said G5 and if it's a G5 they started to use that IO set up right when they switched over to Mac Pro set up.

I dont see those too much, only once before with somebody here out of all the case mods we have lol.

Yup because I dont even thing there is a set up for it on Aquamac
I ran across one posting somewhere once a while ago and it looked to be a PITA
