I looked through the rules and such and wasn't able to find an answer. I had a search box before, but now it is gone. Kinda makes searching for answers before posting questions a little difficult. Any ideas on why this happens and how to fix it? What's really weird is it came back as I'm typing this message.

Very strange. It was there when I was typing my post, then went away after I posted.

Not there when I reply.

Is this by design or some weirdness on my end?

I sometimes have this happen when I first open Safari and go to the tonymacx86 website. The Search box usually shows up (and stays) after I've clicked one link (any link) on the homepage.

Hmmm. Very odd. When using this site from my old Windows PC using Firefox with Adblock+ and NoScript installed, the search box appears every time. Also, if I refresh the page in Safari the search box will sometimes appear briefly before the page refreshes.

My guess is that some banner ad isn't loading quickly enough and that prevents the search box from displaying.

Make sure in your adblock, ghostery, noscript, hosts file or whatever you do not block Google AJAX Search API. Try unblocking these URLs.

Code:
http://www.google.com/coop/cse/brand?form=cse-search-box&lang=en

https://www.google.com/uds/?file=ads&v=3&packages=search&async=2

otherwise, you can (in normal google search) just type (no quotes): "site:tonymacx86.com <search term>"

http://www.googleguide.com/advanced_operators.html#site

To be clear, running just the default Safari browser I don't get the search box.

Running Firefox with adblock (standard easylist blocking) the search box appears every time.
