Deleting Mavericks from HDD

Hi, I have installed OS X 10.9.5 on my secondary HDD but now I want to install ubuntu on it so I need to clean this partition but I don´t know how.Is there a way to completely clean it and use it as normal HDD inside windows 7 and then install ubuntu on it?Please help.Thanks.

Just use Disk Utility inside OS X, or you could use something like DBAN, which will completely overwrite it with a pass of all 0s. DBAN is an ISO, so you would need a DVD or CD drive to use it.

I would think you could just use your Ubuntu installer to reformat the drive.
