Hello all,

I'm new to this forums—but very excited on exploring the possibilities of creating my first Hackintosh computer. I've recently decided to create a Hackintosh to upgrade my existing Macbook Pro that has a 2.36Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo—in order to game with a better graphics card and achieve greater performance when working on my graphic design work.

Here is a preview of my build that I plan on using (It's very similar to the CustoMac Pro 2010, but slightly modified):

CPU: Intel Core i7 2.8Ghz Process i7-930

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper N

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R LGA1366 Motherboard

Graphics: Diamond ATI Radeon HD5770

Ram: Corsair XMS 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1600 (PC3 12800)

Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda LP ST31000520AS 1TB 5900 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive

CD/DVD: Lite-on DVD Burner SATA

Power Supply: Corsair HX Series 750W ATX

Case: Cosmos S 1100

As you can tell it's pretty similar, the only things I've changed are the different memory, hard drive, burner, power supply and case. Otherwise, will all these components work?

Also, what type of options do I have for graphics card when shopping for ATI? Is Nvidia better supported in Hackintosh?

After constructing my components to together, what will I need to successfully install Mac OSX? Just follow the directions from the iBoot + MultiBeast (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ ... -x-on.html)?

Because my video card is ATi, I go ahead use the ATi install, right?

Also, for my Ati card, will I need to follow this directions from this guy? (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4175)

Do I need a DSDT install or EasyBeast?

Can I still dual boot between Mac OSX and Windows 7? or will I need to install Bootcamp?

I know it's too many questions, but I want make sure whether I'm headed in the right direction before I take a plunge on buying these parts. Please let me know.

Any help is appreciated.

After doing some searching over the forums, I feel a bit more confident now. I'm going to start purchasing the items at Newegg/Amazon and hopefully it should work expecting to plan by using iBoot + MultiBeast guide from the site.

But please, let me know if I might run into any problems. I'll let you know how it goes.

Change your CD/DVD to Sony or Pioneer...
Sleep issues would arise from other CD/DVD.

Thanks for the response. I'll go ahead and get a Sony DVD burner instead. Also, in terms of the memory brand, is there a specific one you recommend me getting? Please let me know, thanks!
