Asus P5Q Pro Turbo won't boot with Chimera, will with iBoot

Hi!
So, hardware: P5Q Pro Turbo, P4 3Ghz HT, 4gigs DDr2 800, 1TB partition on a sata drive, Asus 5770 dual-monitor card.

I modded the BIOS, installed 10.6.7 via iBoot and MultiBeast
Everything seems to be running alright, except for poor performance, no sleep mode, and MineCrack has to be Force-Quit.

I have been booting right from my iBoot CD. I Dl'd and installed Chimera in the hopes of getting away from that, but it gets as far as the white screen with the Apple (no "busy" spinning wheel) and then freezes. Booting with -v seems to show a kernel panic, though I'm not sure which line of the screenful of text is important. If I pop my iboot cd back in, it hangs once and then boots fine.

Does anyone have some helpful ideas? I'm not exactly a grizzled vet of hackintosh, so I could use a hand

It's been working just fine for me, aside from the only-booting-from CD.
And Win7 isn't an option until they port Final Cut Pro over to it.

I do have a quad core Q8300 that I'll be throwing in this rig sometime this week, but it would be a surprise if that solved this issue.
