Asrock z87 Extreme9/AC Thunderbolt not working

I just installed El Capitan yesterday. Everything thing seems to be working except Thunderbolt devices (Thunderbolt display pass through is working) and other misc. like bluetooth i don't care about. This could be a general hardware problem as its not working in windows either.

My configuration:
Asrock z87 Extreme9/AC
Thunderbolt display
Intel Core i5-4690K
8gB ram
Samsung 850 EVO PRO SSD

I'm trying to connect my macbook pro in target disk mode and/or my drobo to transfer some data. Suggestions welcome.

Hmmm also just started crashing launchd and rebooting. Probably something related to power managmenet because its always when im away.

Accidentally left on VT-d extensions, rebooting problem solved.

Still unsure how to debug Thunderbolt driver issues.
