Apple IR board placement

I just recently purchased a 2009 Mac Mini IR Board and Cable from ebay. Making it work will be easy but im wondering where the best placement for the ir sensor ill be for looks and function any ideas would help. I was thinking inside my dvd drive or in the very back left corner??

I'm pretty sure they are line of sight. Mine is tucked behind the front grill beside the front panel, with the tiny sensor stuck into one of the holes in the mesh. Can't see it without a flashlight and it works great in there.
