Motherboard
Gigabyte Z97X-UD7 TH
CPU
i7 4790K
Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Guess I've managed to select the only Gigabyte mb that won't run hackintosh! BUILD: GA-Z77X-D3H, Rev. 1.0, BIOS F8, CPU: Intel i5-3570K, Graphics: On Board, MEMORY: One stick of CORSAIR 32 (4x8Gb) 1600 DDR3 CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10, HD: Western Digital 500GB, PSU: CORSAIR TX650M, OPTICAL DR: LG BluRay RW. PROBLEM: I've never been able to get beyond the Dark Gray Apple on the Light Gray Background, using about every combination of -x, PCIRootUID=1, whatever, of iBoot. Accepted BIOS Optimized Defaults, ACHI wherever there was an option for it, nothing in the BIOS on HPET to change, and yes, I'm using the Blue Intel SATA Ports... All indications are that this should load up like a charm, but it won't! WIN 7 PRO 64 bit works perfectly, so the hardware is good. HELP!!! What's next??? (I have the SAME problem with a GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP Board, but hey, one problem at a time, LOL!)

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!

Can Snow Leopard be installed on a z77ud5h?

Thanks for the link, and THAT was unexpected, but at this point replacing the CPU is not an option!
So close… Trying to get ML for install on my new Ivy Bridge builds; but since Snow Leopard doesn’t load on it, I’m trying to use a GIGABYTE EX58-EXTREME, BIOS v. F12, CPU: i7 920 "Bloomberg", and 10.6.3 installs and seems to run, using the iBoot-Multibeast Guide, but it falls apart at step 2, 18: there is no "super cool" welcome video. SAFARI works out of the box, and in a few minutes 10.6.3 has checked and downloaded the updates without intervention. From step 3, nothing works. All I need at this point is to get 10.6.8 working so I can get ML from the Apple store. Don’t need to get audio going or recover from "sleep", or boot from HD w/o iBoot, ‘cause after I get ML I can move on to my Ivy Bridge builds, and this MoBo is history. Just how do I do this – I’ve tried all the "easybeast", DSDT options, whatever, but always get KP’s!!

What gfx card in the EX58 build? The HD5770?

Since you don't care if SL runs well on the EX58, iBoot + retail SL to install, MB/EasyBeast + system utilities to get minimums needed and reboot without iBoot. MB again to install network kext + system utilities to repair permissions and rebuild caches, reboot without iBoot. First thing turn off auto updates in preferences.

You only need 10.6.6, so download 10.6.6 update combo, install and reboot. You should now be able to get the App store and download Mountain Lion.

EDIT: the HD5770 is not supported until 10.6.7, so install, turn off auto updater, download 10.6.7 update combo, launch MultiBeast, make your selectiona and click next, but do not click install. Instead, run the combo update, then when it wants to reboot, click on the MB install button twice.
If you selected Lnx2mac network kext, it will open its own installer after MB has finished. Allow it to install before rebooting.

FANTASTIC! Thanks, 10.6.7 now running - it booted from the HD last night, but had to use iBoot today. Apple Apps Store says 10.6.8 is required for ML. I'm a little fearful of trying to UG to 10.6.8, so many fails behind me - should I expect any probs doing this?? And yes, the GFX is 5770, XFX ATI ver. I use plug-in HDDs on this EX58; two of the WIN 7 drives won't connect to the 'net, T/S says no LAN adapter, and funny, but LAN adapters not showing up in Device manager - thought they were fried, but this MAC 10.6.7 plug-in drive does connect.

You only need 10.6.8 if you are upgrading by installing ML over SL. I don't recall it requiring 10.6.8 before allowing the download. If it does, 10.6.8 update on an x58 board is easy, all you have to replace is the audio kext again.
