Crazy. I updated the BIOS, booted with your EFI and I still get the slow rendering and barely-used GPU in Geekbench. I have no idea anymore. I even tried Casey's EFI with iMac19,1 (turned the iGPU back on) and it's the same.

I'm on F8 still. I assume I need to update to find the CFG lock?

Thanks for your reply. I've done all that. No idea what I'm doing wrong. Anyway, it works fine, just the rendering is slower than with Mojave and Clover. Annoying to upgrade and lose speed.

Sorry for the late reply. I was traveling. I thought my GPU device properties were configured correctly. Where would you suggest I find the correct properties? The Dortana guide isn't very specific on Radeon VIIs.

Wow. Why are the prices so crazy on Radeon VIIs? I got mine new for one third of the price they're going for now. Edit: I just looked it up. Apparently they're one of the best cards still for computational tasks (especially video) and mining.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but my two onboard m.2 cards run faster when the PCIe x4 slot is switched to CPU in BIOS. And I haven't notice any difference in CPU compute speeds when checking benchmarks. The two onboard m.2s are in RAID0, but there isn't much of a boost in speed due...

During boot, and consistently. I switched back to using just the kext with WEG. It's quiet and has the improved performance (according to Geekbench).

I also get a kernel panic without WEG. This is with a Radeon VII. With just the kext and no SSDT I get much better synthetic scores without any extra fan noise. Tomorrow I have some real work to do and will check actual speeds.

Thanks. I just realized that much of the trouble I'm having was that my SSD was dying after 8 years. Now that it's dead I'll pick up a new one next week and go from there. I also think moving to uefi is a good idea at this point. I'm trying to squeeze as much life out of this system as I can.
