Using v4259, brightness control is present in System Preferences panel, functional keys and brightness visual indicator are working but brightness itself doesn't change. Please find attached the requested info.
P.S. It may not help but anyway... the booting seems visually different with v4259...
I've traced the problem back to upgrading Clover to v.4259, apparently it broke Brightness patch. Reverted to v.4220 and brightness control is working properly.
Hi, thanks to RehabMan, I have a stable working installation of High Sierra on my HP ProBook 4540s. Yesterday, however my brightness controls stopped working. I still have the indicator pop-up when I use the keys but brightness stays the same despite of control's reading. I have updated Clover...
As a proud owner of an HP ProBook 4540s upgraded with Broadcom wifi and hires display, I can confirm that this guide works perfectly smooth with Sierra installation (many thanks to RehabMan!). The only minor issue (for me) is with the built-in function keys controlling brightness and sound...

I have Mountain Lion running fine (well, almost fine) on my Acer laptop. Games run well in full screen and in windows. VLC and QT play movies without problem but iTunes and YouTube almost always begin flickering in a few minutes after being started. I don't know wether it is a graphic driver...
