Kinda hoping with the release of the new Mac Pro that we see a Xeon-based workstation Mac Pro buying guide or something similar. :) willing to donate my time and new rig to build the guide if needed!
Been googling furiously this morning haha. My biggest kicker right now is the fact I want at least 128GB of RAM, if not 256 since I do a good deal of virtualization work with some fairly heavy VM sizes. That max RAM size looks like it's going to push me into the Xeon market, but so far it's been...
The biggest issue I see so far in that lineup is the max cap on PCI lanes and max RAM support with the i9-9900k. I'm also looking for a workstation-grade Mac Pro hackintosh build. More than likely that's going to push me into the Xeon chipsets and mainboards though.
Hi all,
Looking at building out a new Hackintosh to replace my aging Sandy Bridge rig I use as my daily workstation driver (not currently running MacOS). I've been wanting something capable of pushing at least 128GB of RAM, as I do a good deal of virtualization work and the occasional high-res...
Gotcha. Keeping my fingers crossed for next week's releases to see what happens! :) I'm not married to the card, so I'll probably pop the money to get the new RX 580 instead.
Do you think it would be worth it in the long run to spend the money for the i9-9900K to get that sweet sweet hyper...
@CaseySJ First off, thanks for the detailed write up. Super appreciate it. I'm rocking an old IvyBridge setup from back in the day as my TimeMachine and Plex server (so I can backup my ridiculous amounts of data to BackBlaze) and it's now time to upgrade. I can't down-convert 4k --> 1080 for...
After instating Mountain Lion on my new Gigabyte GA-z77X-UD5h, I ran Multibeast. I rebooted and there were no errors. However, I updated Chimera using the standalone installer and bricked my system. Beware of installing this on a z77system with HD4000 graphics. Everything else is runnin using...
Hi guys, I'm fairly new to the hackintosh project. I recently modded a G5 and built my first true hackintosh. Here are my specs:
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H running the F8 UEFI
CPU: Ivy Bridge i5 3570k
GPU: Onboard HD 4000
Memory: Corsair Dominator LP 2x4 GB (1600)
Boot Drive: 250GB Seagate...
Sooooo I have the same components with one single exception. I have the xfx Radeon HD 6970 (HD-697A-CNDC) running eyefinity with 3 monitors. I have tried to Hackintosh my machine several times before, and my GPU has always been the issue. Would using the DSDT help this, and if not, can someone...
