Hi - thank you so much! Firstly, sorry for posting in the wrong area. I thought I had a HD 4600, but actually it was a HD4000. I knew I had Ivy bridge, but the thread title doesn't say that. I've updated my profile now.

Hi,
I think I'm almost there with my envy 17 3270nr HP laptop, trying to get dual screens working, but need some help.
I have the most success when I use ig-platform-id 0x01660003, and don't use any FakeUIID.
My external 1920x1200 monitor connected via the HDMI port works fine, and...
I have my envy 17 3270nr tripple booting win7, ubuntu and osx 10.8.2.
I even got graphics accelleration to work, but not external monitor.
More info here:

Ok, something seems to be blocking my posts Maybe there are links to pages that don't meet the forum policies.
I've started to put the details here:

I posted a detailed guide of how I got this laptop working in mountain lion, but it's not been moderated yet... Or maybe it's just vanished. Pretty pleased with the results now:
USB yes (2.0only?)
Ethernet yes
Bluetooth yes
Sound yes
Volume and mute controls yes
Graphics (hd4000)...

Hi All,
Here's the full rundown if anyone wants to duplicate what I've done so far, installing snow leopard on my HP envy 17 3270nr
1. Started with only 4GB installed. Not sure if this was necessary, but that what I had in case it’s relevant. Again, I happened to have the battery...
Solved it, at least for the first snow leopard part anyway. I now have a working snow leopard installation on my envy 17 3270nr (which arrived a week ago).
Trying a boot disc as suggested did not work because for some reason, as soon as I ejected the iBoot disc, I got an EBIOS read error...
Hi,
I got this error when I tried to boot from iBoot. My CD was old, so I burnt another, and suspiciously got the exact same error. I'd booted that disc on that machine (dv8000 hp laptop) many times before, so I knew it was something to do with my hardware.

I'm thinking of buying this machine, and knowing whether OSx86 works or not is the only thing holding me up. Please post back if you've been able to get a sucessful install, even if there are some driver support issues.
I'm happy to do some research to help out anyone trying to make this...
