UPDATE: I got it working at 1920x1200 after spending another couple of hours chasing my tail. I'm not certain which changes actually led to the native res but the "Info" button in the bootloader confirms it, so after all the shagging about I can add it to my list of well-bitten bones. :-)...

No worries. Search "PatchVBiosBytes" on Google - there may be some hope there but I haven't had time to look into it myself. Anything you can dig up would be welcome as I'm like a dog with a bone when it comes to resolving tech issues. I hate admitting defeat! :-D Cheers, VFR_P

You're correct. Booting legacy BIOS with Chameleon for Yosemite allows 1920x1200px boot graphic display on my ancient setup, so it's not a BIOS issue as much as some limitation in Clover at present. Which is my way of saying I have the same problem - I'm stuck with ratty-looking oversized boot...
