1. You can flash F8m BIOS directly.
2. You have to partition the HDD/SSD you will install OS X on to with Mac OS Extended (Journaled). You can have as many partitions on that particular drive, I just made one partition for OS X.
3. I set IGPEnabler=No because I use my GTX 770. If you don't have...
I can confirm that F8 is unstable in terms of freezing, but F8m is perfectly fine, so I will stay on F8m for now.
I tried installing Mavericks on my SSD yesterday, but I got a kernel panic ("boot-uuid") even with -x. I was on F8 BIOS, so I will try it with F8m again.
Updated to F8 BIOS today, no problems so far. I won't put my hands on F9 beta in the near future. I will install 10.9.2 after my last exams (~4 weeks from now).
Guys, I'm really sorry that I was inactive the past few weeks. University keeps me very busy, especially during the exams.
I have to admit that I had to switch back to Windows... After a few minutes of usage Mac OS would get slow. And by slow I mean really slow. Windows runs fine on the hardware...
@bigmacs: Maybe a look in this thread will help.
@Sipala93: I have never experienced any issues like that, so I can't really help you. Sorry ^^
@gleggie: I uploaded a new MultiBeast configuration file (MB 6.1) and have disabled verbose boot as it seems I'm the only one to find that feature...
If you don't have a running Mac OS that you can use to make a Unibeast installer, you can go to an Apple Store and ask whether you can use a Mac there to download Mavericks and make an installer USB drive. A user in this forum reported that they let him do that and I've also tried it myself...
Ok, so I have a solution (at least for my system).
If you experience freezes in Unix-based operating systems and BSODs in Windows, upgrading your BIOS to the latest beta (currently F8k) might do the trick.
I read something about how haswell processors are really picky when it comes to memory...

I'm currently running MacPro3,1 system definition, that may be the reason for the poor speed stepping (I don't have NullCPUPowerManagement.kext in S/L/E). Maybe I'll change that in the future but for now I'm really happy that I have a stable system :D
I upgraded to F8k BIOS today and am now running with 4x8GB at 1600MHz (1.50V) without freezes for 2 hours. I think the freezes are fixed, but I need some time to test if the system is fully stable.
Hi Hjovarth,
the video card works really great both with Windows and Mac OS X. The only problem I have with this build is the freeze issue, which I hope will be fixed in the near future.
[SUCCESS] Changerrs' Build: 4770k/Gigabyte UD3h/HD 4600/840 EVO/ 16GB RAM
Hi changerrs,
great build and guide!
Do you have any issues with the OS freezing, forcing one to do a hard reset? Many users, as well as myself, have reported this problem with the same board.
Well, the config file I provided is rather a base configuration than a uniform solution for every build. For example if you want to use your internal graphics, you'll have to set IGPEnabler=Yes.
I'm not sure if turbo states work with the F8 beta BIOS, but I will have a look at that once I...
Sorry, those are just my preferred boot options. If the loading bar on the Chimera screen is too slow, set the Timeout in /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist to 1, so it should look like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN"...
