<< Solved >> GA-X79-UD3 stuck on "9 min remaining" for 10.15 Catalina Install (big freeze)

Ok - I finally got Catalina to install. Turns out I was running on only 1 core of my (old) CPU, which was apparently affecting the installer. Once I got native Apple CPU Power Management to work, I could remove the cpus=1 boot flag, and it finished installing with no issues. Since the...

List of Motherboards you can successfully install Catalina Beta 6 Public Release

@cmn699 Do you have any advice for the GA-X79? I see you list it as "difficult". I have the GA-X79-UD3, which I can get to boot the installer for Catalina, but it always hangs at "about 9 minutes remaining" after the storagekitd finishes installing the recovery volume. No further installer...

<< Solved >> GA-X79-UD3 stuck on "9 min remaining" for 10.15 Catalina Install (big freeze)

I'm slowly closing in on this. I managed to extract the installer log file from the Catalina installer. I'm not sure what to look for in terms of causes for the freezing. I'll look around to see if anyone else has used this approach.

<< Solved >> GA-X79-UD3 stuck on "9 min remaining" for 10.15 Catalina Install (big freeze)

I've checked on the embedded controller (EC) issue. I'm using the below attached SSDTs to address that. I've reviewed my config.plist and can't find anything obvious that I'm missing. I've also attached my DSDT in case that helps. I'm really at a loss here. Could there be something else that...

<< Solved >> GA-X79-UD3 stuck on "9 min remaining" for 10.15 Catalina Install (big freeze)

Hi fellow Hackintoshers! I've been searching the forum for a situation like this, but can't see that anyone else has posted with a similar issue (with the same hardware). I've got the old Sandy Bridge Gigabyte X79-UD3 with a Xeon 6 core @ 2 GHz. For graphics, I'm using the AMD Radeon RX560...

    Motu PCI -424

Just a quick update. I installed the latest MOTU audio driver (1.6.59200), released November 12, 2013. The boot errors are gone, and the PCIe-424 is working great! DJ

    Motu PCI -424

Excellent, saxmonster! Another update from me as well. I upgraded to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, which was an adventure. It works very well. I did notice, however, that with my set up, the MOTU universal audio drivers cause an error on boot (I'm booting in verbose mode always). The error I get is...

    Motu PCI -424

Just wanted to follow up on this subject. I, like sax monster, replaced my PCI-424 original with a PCIe-424 and found that my hackintosh recognized it immediately. I have had no issues with clicking or popping, and am very satisfied that now my dual boot Win8/OS 10.8.5 works beautifully. I...

    Motu PCI -424

Hey saxmonster, Glad you got it working. Sounds like your solution fits all the solutions I've ever heard for the MOTU PCI-424 issue (i.e., just buy the PCIe version). I'm saving my pennies for the new card, as I have the original PCI version (!). Hope to be in your shoes soon...

    Motu PCI -424

Hey saxmonster, Never tried it, but it might work. From everything I can gather, the kext is loading correctly (PCI-424 shows as "Registered", "Matched", and "Active" in the IORegistryExplorer - see pic below). It appears that somewhere in the user space the configuration app can't...

    Motu PCI -424

Hi All, I'm a little late to the party on this subject, but I've got a similar set up (MOTU PCI 424 - original, not X or e versions). Works fine on my GA-X79-UD3 with Xeon E5-2620 running Windows 8 with latest MOTU drivers (running a dual boot Win 8 / OS X 10.8.4 system). However, OSX...

Asus Radeon HD 5450 Silent and Mountain Lion w/ Dual Monitors?

Very interesting thread! I have the Power Cooler version of this card (ATI Radeon HD 5450) using VGA and DVI-A. It's my first Hackintosh build, so I hit the learning curve head on...but have survived because of threads like this one. I've built my Hackintosh using ML 10.8.4 (!), probably...
