    [SUCCESS] Pro Audio/Gaming Build: GA-Z97X-UD7 TH / i7 4790k / 32GB / EVGA GTX 970

Thanks so much for this guide! This was by far the easiest hackintosh build I've ever done, at least once I got past the MB not starting up with 4 RAM sticks in it - that was fixed by setting the timings to manual in the BIOS. Not sure why that fixed it, but it did! It even sleeps, which I...

Problem getting to installer [kernel panic error]

I was stuck at the same point as you and seem to have finally gotten past it by booting with "nv_disable=1 and GraphicsEnabler=No". I'm not sure if the issue was my system being older (it's a GB P55 UD2 with an i7 860) or my new graphics card (a GTX970), but it's installing Yosemite now :D...

Will upgrading my cpu be a big boost? And what cpu should i go with?

I can't speak to the difference between those processors, but as someone who works in Logic Pro 9, I thought I'd mention the issues I've had with it and how I (mostly) resolved them. I've got an i7 860, so an older processor than yours (though I'm not sure how they compare power-wise), and I...

    Seagate Barracuda 1TB

When I had an issue with my HDD back in 2009, it was due to it being too big to boot off of (it was 1.5TB). I found that I could get around the problem by partitioning the drive in Disk Utility so that it the partition I was installing the OS on was smaller than 1TB. I removed the extra...

    GTX 970 with i7 860 and Yosemite?

Thanks for the reply. It still looks a bit finicky, so I think I'll keep things as they are for now and upgrade my MB, processor, and video card in a few months.

    GTX 970 with i7 860 and Yosemite?

I'm using an i7 860 with a Gigabyte P55 UD2, looking to upgrade my OS to Yosemite and my GPU to a GTX 970 (a MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC). I'm also thinking of putting the new OS on an SSD (a Samsung 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW). Is this feasible/difficult? I'm hoping to not have to upgrade my...

Tibetan input doesn't work on new install

Not that this is likely to be very useful for most, but I thought I'd post my fix just the same: The problem was being caused by using Migration Assistant to move over my user folder. I did all of that manually and my Tibetan input works again. Yay!

Tibetan input doesn't work on new install

I need to type in Tibetan (it's built into OS X as of 10.5, I believe), and the input method works perfectly on my 10.6.2 drive, but if I boot on my other drive (a newer install running 10.6.5, which works perfectly otherwise), it doesn't work at all. I know that this is not an OS issue, as it...
