Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

Hey Nano, Yeah I did get onboard graphics working so no dedicated GPU. I just applied the framebuffer patch and it worked fine. Set up an alert for Z390 on ebay, Gumtree, facebook marketplace etc. I'm still seeing them pop up from time to time

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

Hey mate, Yeah I did. It's working great with PT2020.5 with the HD Native TB box. I also run 2 x UAD cards and they're working too. Let me know if you have any more questions...

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

So, I tracked down a Z390 Designare here in Aus, so I've changed tack and will follow the Z390 / I7-9700K build. Hoping to be able to get on-board HDMI working to save on a GPU but we'll see...

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

Thanks, the problem is that there is no support for 32bit plugins etc. in Catalina, which would mean that a tonne of plugins I use would become obsolete...

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

Mmmm ok, thank you. The reason I had decided to go with the Z490 is that the Z390 is now impossible to find new here in Australia. But it does seem that Catalina is not an option for pro audio for the moment so it's back to the drawing board...

Hi avonkorff, I'm wondering if you can help me. I'm in a similar boat as you were, looking to build a new Hackintosh to run Pro Tools (see thread here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/gigabyte-z490-vision-d-build-for-pro-tools.300647/) I'm wondering if you have any insight or learned...

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

Aha! Thank you for that. Best replace that processor with an Intel Core i7 10700K The rackmount case is really just a question of aesthetics - it means I can mount it in the rack with all the audio gear. My current Hack is in a rackmount too - can't really see it but it's at the bottom left.

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D build for Pro Tools

Hi All, I've been doing a lot of reading on these forums but I'm after some final confirmation before I pull the trigger and buy components. My 8 year old Hackintosh with Pro Tools 10HD and TDM cards is due for an upgrade and I'll be moving to an Avid HD native thunderbolt interface. The...

Help finding OS 10.9 Mavericks Apple Installer

Hi there, For boring reasons I need to upgrade my OS 10.8.5 Hackintosh to OS 10.9, which I'm going to do on a separate drive. I can't for the life of me find the Install OS X Mavericks application. I have never download it from the App store so I can't get it that way. Is anyone able to...

Issues with Gigabyte Z77-HD3 "Still waiting for root device"

Ok, one last "hopefully minor" issue. If I hold down F12 to select the boot option I am given the choice to use the P0 instance of the SSD and the system boots without a hitch. However, in the BIOS settings this P0 instance is not available and I am forced to select the UEFI instance of the...

Issues with Gigabyte Z77-HD3 "Still waiting for root device"

Arrrgh!! Success!! I'm sorry, I had missed this crucial step: Set your BIOS or UEFI to Optimized Defaults, and your hard drive to AHCI mode. The SATA mode was still set to IDE. Changed it to AHCI and all is well with the world. Thanks for your help Jinhu!

Issues with Gigabyte Z77-HD3 "Still waiting for root device"

Thanks Jinhu but I just tried to boot with the SSD in one of the older 3gb/s SATA ports and used npci=x2000 -v -x UseKernelCache=No boot flags but it still hangs at the same point. I thought it might be an isssue with the SSD itself so I connected it to a G5 and it is recognised just fine. Is...

Issues with Gigabyte Z77-HD3 "Still waiting for root device"

Hey, yeah, I actually just tried setting Boot Option #1 to PM: Sandisk and disabling Boot Option #2 but no dice unfortunately. Should the SSD be plugged into SATA socket 0 (the SATA3 one) or one of the SATA 2 sockets?

Issues with Gigabyte Z77-HD3 "Still waiting for root device"

Thanks for the reply Jinhu. I checked the settings that you mentioned but still getting the same results. The only one that I had to change was: M.I.T.>Advanced Frequency Settings>Advanced CPU Core Features -Internal CPU PLL Overvoltage> disabled In the BIOS the SSD shows as - Boot Option #1...

Issues with Gigabyte Z77-HD3 "Still waiting for root device"

Hi All, I'm new to the Hackintosh thing so I'm hoping someone can help me... A couple of days ago I built my first Hackintosh by following this golden build: http://www.tonymacx86.com/golden-builds/86682-recording-studio-2-0-core-i7-3770k-ga-z77x-up5-th-16gb-hd4000.html I followed the...
