Tried the latest Nvidia Web Drivers yet? I have the GTX 670, but the 2 GB VRAM version, and it works quite okay without the Web Drivers, but the 4 GB version might not have native OS X support.

You could use iStat Menus and enable the CPU Menu Bar option and when PP plays something back that the MPE supports, look at the CPU dropdown menu and GPU usage. That is how I verified my GTX 670 and 970 being used in PP. Now if AE could use GPUs better it would be awesome.
