Is This an Appropriate Stability Testing Method?

I knew you might, but it's for the others who read this thread later and then go, "Hey, I heard of that Prime95 thing, lemme try that!" :P

    i3570K overclock @ 4,2Ghz help needed please

You should set your CPU multiplier back to 34 (the default) and then set your Turbo boost multipliers (1-core through 4-core) all to your OC multiplier (42). Then, re-enable EIST. With EIST enabled and the Turbo speeds set to 42, the system will throttle up to 4.2GHz dynamically on its own...

    ivybridge 3770k

This! Nikki is correct. If your system is working with EIST enabled, then leave it enabled! As long as you have the FakeSMC Motherboard Plugins installed (they're in Multibeast 5), HWMonitor.app will report your proper system speeds in real-time; with EIST enabled you can watch it dynamically...

Is This an Appropriate Stability Testing Method?

LOL. For anyone who doesn't already know this: When running Prime95, remember that which torture test you use matters! I see temps 5-7C hotter with Small FFTs than I do running Blend. I've seen systems that run stable for hours on Blend, and are quite stable and usable as gaming systems...

Basics for Overclocking Ivy Bridge (Gigabyte Z77/i5-3570K)

Disabling EIST: Since some people are discussing the effects of disabling EIST on their OC performance, I ran some quick tests. Scores are Geekbench 64-bit, using an i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz with 16GB RAM. EIST enabled: 13045 EIST disabled: 13096 The gap here is within the margin of error...

Basics for Overclocking Ivy Bridge (Gigabyte Z77/i5-3570K)

I waited until Mountain Lion came out, and then built a new Ivy Bridge-based system with a Gigabyte Z77-UP5-TH motherboard and i5-3570K CPU. The install: Did a fresh install using UniBeast and MultiBeast 5.0.2, installed the following: DSDT-Free Installation Realtek Without DSDT...

    ati radeon 5770

You shouldn't need to edit anything, it should work natively in Mountain Lion. Are you saying that your ML install doesn't work at all? Are you sure it's the 5770 video card? I was asking if you've gotten your ML install to work with another video card, to make sure that it's the 5770 and not...

    Monitoring Temps?

Download MultiBeast 5.0.2 for Mountain Lion, and install the following on your system: FakeSMC FakeSMC Plugins: Motherboard Plugins FakeSMC Plugins: HWMonitor Application The last one is actually an application that gets installed on your Applications folder, called HWMonitor.app...

    ati radeon 5770

I'm using a 5770 in Mountain Lion with a new Gigabyte Z77-UP5-TH and i5-3570K. Everything is working fine. What is your configuration? Does it work with another video card?

Question on Ivy Bridge CustoMac RAM (16 GB vs. 32 GB)

The board you're using is dual-channel only, but if you get a 4x8GB set and install them, your board will recognize them and treat them as 2 dual-channel sets of RAM with no problems. May as well get all 32GB now if that's what you want.

In Search of the Best Hackintosh Graphics Card

Running i5-2500K @ 4.2GHz with water-cooled CPU and fanless (passive radiator) Radeon 5770, in 10.7.4: Screen Shot 2012-07-16 at 1.34.50 AM.png It's plenty fast enough, and totally silent, so for me it's the best.

    Gigabyte Sandy Bridge Overclocking Guide

You can get lower temps at those speeds if you upgrade your cooling. I can run stable 4.6-4.8GHz and never break 60C with a self-contained Corsair water-cooling rig. (I have the H70 which is discontinued; the newer H80 is the improved version of what I use.)

Gigabyte/2500k: Looking for help with performance issues

Glad to hear it's working! 11K is a much better score for an OC'd 2500K.

This is just a random question, but are you using GenerateCStates and GeneratePStates?

    Whats your 2500K Geekbench Score?

OCing is more stable if you keep it close to a 100 BLCK, in fact I've seen some evidence that you can drop to a 99 BLCK and get stable at higher multipliers. Also, I've been running 1.42V long-term for months now without problem; of course, that's with the dynamic Vcore set to "AUTO", so that...

Restoring full hackintosh system from time machine -

This is how I do it. I have two 2.5" drives, a 60GB SSD and a 500GB HDD, mounted together in my case. The first 60GB of the HDD is a CCC backup of my boot drive, the rest is my Time Machine partition. Before I make any major system changes, I wipe the boot-backup partition and reclone it (to...

    Gordo Guide: GA-P67A-UD3-B3 Overclocking

There's no good way to do this in OSX directly. Indirectly, you can verify it by monitoring your system temperatures. If your system is stepping down properly when idle then the CPU idle temps should be rather low. You can also boot up into Windows/Linux and compare your CPU temps/states...

DSDT Database Questions: Gigabyte Socket 1155

Question: If you already have a system up and running properly with EasyBeast, how do you switch your system over to one of these DSDTs? Is there anything special involved, or is it just re-run MultiBeast and do a UserDSDT install and everything should work fine?

    DSDT NEWB

The Serial ATA message is on the second screen. If you're getting the white Gigabyte image, you need to hit TAB so you can see the first POST screen (or disable this in the BIOS so the POST screen always shows up). Here, look at this bootup screen: You see in the upper left, where it says...

    Whats your 2500K Geekbench Score?

This is with my system running a 50x101 turbo clock for 5.05GHz: http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/504217 It can run under load (GeekBench Stress Test) for hours at a time, but if I do something graphics-intensive on top of that (3D games, etc) then the computer will KP after a few...
