Thanks for the hint. Looks like I managed to mess up the pins even when I thought to have had tripple checked it :banghead: .
I take everything back now - jumper works the same way (but it doesn't seem to make a difference if I use the 0.6V from Pin 3 or 3.3V from SATA power for some reason)...
Thanks @dgsga! I feel quite stupid failing to go to offset 0x82BA0/0x82BA8 myself for some reason... :banghead:
You suggested 0xBA0 before - what made you switch to 0xBA8 in this case? (besides that those bytes were 0xffffff before)
Test results: (using the patched firmware above)
Thunderbolt...
Hi,
I decided to post my question originally posted on the Gigabyte Designare Z390 thread here. I probably should have started here in the first place and I hope you agree with me.
Quick summary so far:
My setup:
Mainboard: GA-H170-HD3
Gigabyte GC Alpine Ridge (Rev 1.0!)
installed into...
Hi @dgsga,
thanks again for the hint. I tried to apply those patches and was able to find the first two. The data at 0xBA0 looks like it's not the one that needs patching (I attached the section in case someone is willing to have a look). Where do those values come from? I'm unable to find any...
I added some short answers in the quote above.
USB-C devices work on either port just fine (that wasn't the case before flashing / SSDT patches). I tested a flash drive and a hard disk (USB3) as well as a Magic Trackpad and an USB2 flash drive.
The only other Thunderbolt device I own is a OWC...
@dgsga @CaseySJ @scottkendall: I would be happy to start digging into the firmware and patching it myself. Is there some documentation / summary of the reverse engineering progress so far? Will give it a try to just follow the instructions but I usually prefer to try to understand what's happening.
I attached some screenshots. Strange that there are no attributes on Port5...
Thunderbolt 3 + USB-C was working with the original Firmware on Windows - devices don't show up there anymore after flashing the V3 firmware.
Additional note: Behavior seems to be the same - no matter if I use the...
Hi @CaseySJ,
That's what I tried:
- booting without anything attached. TB tree shows up
- hotplugging the Razor Core X. No effect
- reboot while still connected. TB tree shows up but no device connected
- unplug and replug. No change
FYI: System profiler shows a link status of 0x7 instead of...
1) I attached a screenshot of my BIOS settings
2) I followed the guide and tried the two SSDT patches (using OpenCore). But I assumed that the TB tree should be visible if activated - no matter if the patched are there or not?
3) I tried flashing back the original firmware and boot into macOS...
Hi @CaseySJ and others
thanks for your hard work regarding Thunderbolt 3!
I have a Gigabyte GC Alpine Ridge PCIe card (REV 1.0) and tried to get it working using the patched firmware today but the card doesn't work at all - with either V1 or V2.
IOreg doesn't show anything anymore. System...
Hi,
I'm about to finish my new Skylake build and recognized something very strange:
My PCIe Gigabit Network card (Sonnet GE1000LA-E) with native support on OS X is not working.
That's what I was able to find out:
* an attached network cable will be detected
* the OS starts sending DHCP...
