Ok, so I've updated/patched the bios, which now allows me to install and boot without problems but the video is still garbled. So I rebooted in safe mode (thanks @MiniITX), and I'm able to get to the desktop in full 1080p, but with no graphics acceleration - meaning I can't do any videos and...

Btw @MiniITX, could you elaborate on Audio, because that wasn't working as well. I'm using a discrete sound card for this setup: Asus Xonar DG. Which kext should I go with for this?

Thanks for the advice @MiniITX, I'll just update the BIOS then. I'm guessing this is also the cause of the garbled video since the board is connected to the monitor via HDMI.

I tried NullCPU and it worked. Thanks!! But I have another problem, when the OS loads into the desktop, the screen flickers and gets completely garbled (noise). Have to figure this out now.

Ok, I'll try option #3, but when I use the USB drive to boot, it brings me back to the installation screen.
