IDK if this helps, but I'm using the Experimental ATI Chameleon boot file, with 64-bit (XFX 5770), and with nothing else other than few kexts (FakeSMC, HDA, and 3 SATA Kexts) it works fine. Have you tried the modified boot file? no flickering, runs everything fine.

my friend did this with a G5 Case, Lian-Li tray, JB Weld, Dremel and some front I/O cables and ports, came out VERY nicely. Might buy it from him haha

There's a Samsung drive that has a firmware update for Mac OS X that will allow auto-sleep. It will also work with other models using the same chipset. Also, you can try to find HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS21N that's the one that Mac Pro ships with. It will probably be OEM to LG, LiteOn, or Hitatchi.

you haven't told me what method you are using to get your card loaded to the operating system. that's the most important part and you haven't mentioned anything about that.

what method are you using to get this card working? but yea for ports. 1st monitor: HDMI or DVI 2nd monitor: HDMI or DVI (if hdmi hasnt been used already that is) 3rd monitor: DisplayPort. good luck.

theres no way to have 3 monitors without using the display port. the 2 DVI and 1 HDMI shares 2 digital ramdac sources. displayport is ramdacless.. technically if you get an active adapter yes you can use 2x dvi + hdmi or whatever combo + 1 displayport->activeadapter->dvi/hdmi.

neither are good drives lol, but Pioneer DVR-218L is another one you can get.

Pics?! you haven't seen a Antec 300 case before?! XD I'll get pics of internals, and maybe a video on SC2. Do you know a particular program that counts FPS on the mac?

5770 with 10.6.4 + graphics update (Everything vanilla) using Trauma's chameleon modified boot file is working magnificently for me. (boot9 + xfx 5770 rom. i have a xfx 5770 card)

I had the same card as you, what i did was download DSDTSE and put their GTS 250 info (it's in the list of their hacks) in the dsdt. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3431153/dsdt.dsl http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3431153/dsdt.aml try opening these and see the dsdt for the gts 250. i can't guarantee anything...

I think it's unsafe because when it changes the frequency, the voltage you might have change might effect this and cause instability. that's my only guess. and it showed up same when i booted 32-bit (wthat's what ive been doing in the first place though)

if you want something cheap. might as well get a nvidia 1,2 or gt2 series. low price, decent performance, extremely energy efficient.
