    Thanks for the reply. Boot flags don't work, though. But saving BIOS changes still does. Anyone seen the corrupted cursor before?

    It seems the last step of selecting the boot drive isn't necessary: just pressing DEL to enter setup and saving changes (F10) is enough. What effect might saving the BIOS, even with no changes, have on the boot process? Any ideas on getting around this?
