I had been on same problem before, using a SATA DVD drive, changed it to my old IDE DVD drive and installation was a success.... :headbang:

I have the same card, when restarting or rebooting, I just press my monitor/LCD button to DVI and it shows the booting processes, if I am not doing it, it will show me the black screen on the booting processes but will eventually show the main screen afterwards. I just think its the LCD issue...

have you tried configuring the hd bios setup, making your sl hd as the "top" hd in the boot priority?
