This sounds similar too a problem I ran into when trying InsomniaT. I got out of it by plugging in a monitor in Hdmi AND one in VGA, then pressing fn f4 after it was done booting. Disabled the InsomniaT and then it worked Ok.

No Windows, fn-f4 works during startup, but after boot, OSX takes over and responds with brightness change.

I have followed inmike´s recipe, and have a working SL install, sort of. I am not happy with the lnx2.. WiFi, though. It is not recognized as an Airport, and I lose connection frequently. Any recommendations?

Yep, It is the one (20.8MB). Copied again to make sure. Still black screen hang. A hint: I can\t use iBoot either, I have to use iBoot Legacy. Maybe I need a completely different kernel?
