and yes, qe quarts is working flawlessly. before mountain lion, i used to have snow leopard and have screen tearing occasionally. with mountain lion, this problem seem to be fixed oob.

i noticed you're using an i5 processor.
i read somewhere that i5s and i7s need this to work properly.s
also, is your lenovo g460 model have hd3000 as well? some models do come with both 310 and hd3000 build in. perhaps you can set your bios to just use the hd3000.

Our main difference is the video card.
Since you don't get KP with the card, I assume the problem is not really the card.

1. Sleep - closing the lid doesn't put laptop to sleep. Need to manually do it.
