Thoughts on internal RAID vs. Drobo

To the OP; sorry if I hijacked a little. As you already have a Drobo 4 bay, you are at least somewhat familiar with them. I have another cheap potential solution for you; How about hooking the Drobo up to a router with a USB port on it? You would then have a NAS device that was redundant with...

Thoughts on internal RAID vs. Drobo

Drobo tech support and customer service are top notch. What you said about needing two Drobos is rubbish. Drobo overnighted me a brand new Drobo (5 bay) on a HOLIDAY when one went down on me. I popped my drive array in the new one and was back up and running with no loss of data or money. I...

SSD Discs Speeds on GA Z77X UD5H

Why not use the Intel SATA III ports? Also, regardless of the ports you use, Blackmagic Disk speed test uses incompressible data for the test. Many SSD compress data whenever possible to achieve higher throughput. They are unable to do this with the Blackmagic test. Not all SSD are created...

    Bootloader issue

Did you install FakeSMC.kext? It doesn't look like it. Boot through UniBeast, install FakeSMC.kext and try again.

    GTX680 works in OS X

I tried Luxmark and, what do you know, it DID NOT work! I replaced the libclh.dylib with the one provided by Alfa and rebooted... Viola! Success. Thanks for the tip off on Luxmark guys. And thanks Alfa for the fix.

    GTX680 works in OS X

I think there's been a miscommunication somewhere. No, I'm not angry. I'm not sure how it came across as such. I am a professional working for free when I troubleshoot anything in these forums as well. I am simply trying to have a constructive discussion with you, if it came across any other...

    GTX680 works in OS X

I'll download a Valve game overnight to test that. Why do you 'think' CUDA was underperforming? I was pleased when it worked with no issues in OSX. SLI is great for Windows gaming. If it hadn't worked properly it would have meant more hassle and excessive wear on the contacts over time. I...

    Eject Button in ML

I'm sure this is just doing the 'find and replace' method for external vs internal but have any of you run DVD Drive Switcher to see if the drive performs as expected afterwards? DVDDriveSwitcher.zip I ran this on my MacBook Pro after replacing the optical drive with an HDD. If you like...

    GTX680 works in OS X

Also, what SMBios are you running?

    GTX680 works in OS X

Yes. That's what I was referring to. Are others experiencing problems? If so, what are the symptoms? If Cinebench is the indicator, what did yours do before your modifications? As I said, I have done no such modifications and have not found a single program or task that doesn't work...

    GTX680 works in OS X

I do those things. It is relevant. The reason I brought up Cinebench is because of the screen shot he posted. That screen shot implied his patch affected processes in Cinebench. Also, isn't Cinebench a 3D rendering/image processing benchmark? I just want to find a way to test before and after...

    GTX680 works in OS X

Can someone please enlighten me about that OpenCL blog post and instructions? I want to know if I'm missing something. My 680 works out of the box, It's properly recognized and gets higher Cinebench scores than the screenshot on your blog post (that could be due to it being an EVGA...

    Can't change system definitions (imac,mac pro,mac mini)

I can only use certain SMBioses on mine. For instance, I can not use MacPro 5,1. I can use MacPro 3,1 - iMac 12,2 - I believe I can use the Mac Mini 5,1 but it's been a while since I've tried it. Different SMBioses have different peculiarities if they are bootable.

    GA-Z77X-UD5H Multibeast HELP!!

Yes, that's what they're for. I just like to have a more evenly distributed spread. However, I just discovered a problem with running the MacBook Pro SMBios on this machine. I have been chasing down a problem that reared it's ugly head on my machine recently. YouTube would show as garbled...

    nVidia 680 - OpenGL errors

When I was at my wits end with this one... I have been running a MacBook Pro 8,1 SMBios to get better P States from the CPU. My last ditch effort with this problem was to change the SMBios back to 100% known-working. I threw the Mac Pro 3,1 SMBios in and rebooted. And now YouTube works...

    nVidia 680 - OpenGL errors

I did some quick testing in Windows to see if there were any problems there. My GPU appears to be in full working order. I may run more extended tests later if I still have issues in OSX. I'm in the process of downloading recent previous versions of Flash Player to test. Seems there has been a...

    nVidia 680 - OpenGL errors

This problem is happening for me on a load that exibited no problems before. Is Youtube doing this to anybody else with a 680?

    Clock running fast

That's funny, I saw this behavior using Chameleon '2.1 svn r1820 trunk' on ML GM. I used Multibeast to rid myself of the problem. I haven't seen that happen yet on MB but I guess it's possible given your predicament.
