    I can also confirm that after months of unplugging every night, my drive now shuts off completely upon shutdown. I enabled the ErP setting in my Gigabyte H87N-Wifi motherboard bios and it's been smooth so far. My guess is that it had to do with gigabytes USB3 always-on charge function...
