Just a quick update on the progress...I've decided to stick with Mavericks and I've got wifi working! used a TP Link WN823N and the RTL 8191SU driver (10.8.5) - working like a charm. However I can't boot with it plugged in (have to plug it in on the login screen) - not really a biggie though
My main problem with patching the DSDT at the moment is a lot of guides for example 'how to create your own DSDT using MaciASL' require an internet connect for results :/ any advice on externally trying to achieve this?
Not having much luck with patching AppleHDA...I'm thinking of downgrading Mavericks to Mountain Lion. I keep finding a lot of kexts and help for ML on other websites and here. Also gonna make it dual bootable with Windows 7

Decided against a downgrade, backed up all my files and did a clean install! Hopefully this will solve the issue, otherwise I'm gonna revert to OS X ML
Okay I think I'll give it ago today! I have separate HDD with a partition dedicated for time machine backups. I think I'll roll back to just before I updated to maverick. My machine was running flawless then :/
