This is a stab in the dark but could the new kernel Tony posted from the Core i5 and i7 Apple laptops perhaps help the situation? Just an idea....

Mac OS X 10.6.3 Update - The Official Thread

Commented on this in Tony's blog but I found that unchecking "Allow power button to put the computer to sleep" fixed my usb wake issue, not had a problem since. Should mention that I utilize a modified Tony DSDT file for speedstep, sleep, graphics etc. Hope this helps

    Wifi - TP-Link TL-WN951N - 64bit not working

I have the TP-Link TL-WN851N and have upgraded to 10.6.3 Bad news is that I'm having exactly the same problem, kernel panic as soon as the card connects to a wireless network in 32 bit. Can't get the card to work at all in 64 bit and the only solution as before is to turn off 3 cores and only...

    Cinebench 11.5 scores

Thelostswede - I agree I think the drivers are to blame also. Its just frustrating that such a modern operating system such as SL is stil utilizing Open GL standards from 2006! Particularly when you keep in mind that Macs have a strong following in the professional graphics fields. Ok I'm done...

    Cinebench 11.5 scores

No expert here guys but I think the culprit is the Open GL standard. Apple has yet to embrace Open GL 3.0 which was released in July, 2008 although its slated to be in the 10.6.3 update. Included in the Open GL updates is support for more modern graphics cards in addition to numerous new Open GL...

Overclocking a P55M-UD2 - Any thoughts or recommendations?

Evildemon989: I'm not sure why performance is reduced even when speedstep is disabled - like I said though in 32 bit I was able to overclock right up to the numbers you are looking for 3.5 to 3.7 GHz and saw numbers just shy of 10,000 on Geekbench. I have to say though going above 3.2GHz is...

Overclocking a P55M-UD2 - Any thoughts or recommendations?

Hey guys I just wanted to draw your attention to this thread: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=64 as it speaks to some of your questions and the article I found suggests 3.2Ghz as being the sweet spot for the Core i5 750. From my experience overclocking my hackintosh has been very...

    Sound "plops"

Definitely not a system sound - and I agree that it sounds almost like the result of a discharge once that circuit is live. My question is how did someone figure out that changing the name in the symbios.plist would fix the issue - never would have come up with that one. Anyway, I'm happy and...

    Sound "plops"

The "plop" as it is being referred to is definitely not the sound to indicate a change in volume but rather a sound that seems to be generated when the sound is initialized, typically during the boot sequence. The problem I was having was that the sound seemed to be turning on and then back off...

    Sound "plops"

Hey themac: As far as editing the smbios.plist its really straightforward, I've entered the edits for your plist below. Paste, save, reboot and you should be good to go :) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN"...

    Sound "plops"

Been looking for a solution to the sound "plop" for some time - changed my smbios.plist to MacPro3,1 and low and behold problem fixed. No idea why simply changing from iMac to MacPro would work but very glad it does :P

    Overclocking core i5

Fantastic article on overclocking the Core i5 proc entitled "Efficiency Explored: What's The Perfect Clock Rate For Your Core i5?" http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-750-efficiency,2500.html# Quote: "It actually makes so much sense to overclock the Core i5 from its 133 MHz base clock to...

    Wireless solution for 64-bit?

Update on the TP-Link TL-WN851N which is an Atheros based PCI card. Good News: plugged her in rebooted and the card was immediately recognized by the OS as a native Wireless-N Airport Card. Bad News: as soon as I attempted to connect to a network got a kernel panic - and subsequently got a...

    Overclocking core i5

I think I'm on the same page as jwalkermed with regard to overclocking. I run a very modest overclock to get the most out of my equipment while still utilizing speedstep (throttling) for energy savings and turbo for that speed bump when you need it. Also I don't want my fan running like crazy or...

    Overclocking core i5

Glad you got to the bottom of it - and it looks like your results are similar to mine. I should mention that I do have a voltage increase for my ram to meet specs from OCZ. I believe ram is set to 1.64 volts. Otherwise like you, just playing with multipliers (and I have a stock cooler so I can't...

    Gigabyte GTS250 or 9800GT?

I know I'm a little late to this topic but I wanted to mention for the record that I've tested an MSI GTS 250 with 1GB ram using the nvenabler64 kext, a specific GTS 250 nvinject kext and Chameleon graphics enabler. Due to the card being based on legacy architecture it works like a charm in a...

    Overclocking core i5

Hey jwalkermed: I am by no means an expert but I can tell you that I tried overclocking my hackintosh to the greatest extent possible without increasing voltages just for testing purposes and I saw steady increases in my Geekbench scores. In fact during testing the best score I managed with 4gb...

WirelessN TP-Link TL-WN851N / TL-WN951N $30.00 cards recognized as AirPort Extreme. Reportedly work native in 32-bit and with AtherosFix.kext also work in 64-bit! Link for AtherosFix.kext: http://www.mediafire.com/?dgno4vlknnm I just ordered the TL-WN851N for $18 from Amazon, I'll let you...
