Ok....so I finally have a working install on my R4 running 10.8.3 with the 680M 120Hz display in all its glory.
All you have to do is get the latest unibeast and you HAVE to download the 10.8.3 from the app store. I tried to be slick and t*****t it and that was the spawn of all my...
I realize this is a dead thread but for people looking for the solution if you just install the installer from unibeast onto a hdd and put it in one of the bays or use the esata it will allow you to pass the "Still waiting for root device" its apparently something with usb.
Well if you have access to multibeast I think its under kexts& drivers >misc?? And as for legacy_kernel I forgot you were using the regular iboot. I use the legacy iboot and it has the legacy kernel option. I don't know if you've tried it but I might get the legacy iboot as it usually works...
what graphics does that laptop have? and for audio do you have the voodooHDA.kext installed? if you do go to system prefs>voodooHDA, its at the bottom of the system prefs window.
boot with the -v boot flag and see what kernel panic you get.
Also, when i was setting my laptop up (Dell Inspiron E1505) i tried all these boot flags and then just for kicks i tried only putting -x and presto it worked. so id try that too.
What i like to do is if you have a second hard drive use it to install the "hackintosh". This way if something goes bad you can format and start over without losing all of your current setup (windows or whatever your using now).
so i finally got the thing to boot on my Dell inspiron E1505 and i get to the purple sky screen and the mouse appears but thats as far as it goes no panics or anything just the sky and the mouse

panic (cpu 0 caller 0x5600f3) : "unable to find driver for this platform: \"acpi"\".\n"@/users/nawcom/builds/xnu-1504.9.26/iokit/kernal/ IOplatformexpert.cpp:1393
