144hz confirmed working on my LG 27GL83A-B (1440p, not 4K) over DP with a 6800 XT. The monitor also claims adaptive sync is active but I'm not so sure about that actually being true.

That is a very good point. So, have you ever heard of someone with a gen 1 i series cpu getting speedstep working? I have a C2D machine working natively but of course, there are actual C2D Mac machines so that doesn't mean much.
