Guide: Update OS X Mavericks to OS X Yosemite Using UniBeast and MultiBeast

OK, as a noob, here's what I did to get it working: Followed Tony's instructions on the first page of this post. Booted to USB from bios and installed Yosemite over Mavericks. Rebooted to USB and started Yosemite. Perfect! Ran Mulibeast with the settings Tony advised. Rebooted to...

    Success: i5 2500k - GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 - HD3000 - Lion 10.7.3

Right, I took the bull by the horns earlier and decided that I wanted ML on my hack. I followed the superb guide here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/123-how-upgrade-bios-uefi-gigabyte-s-6-series-motherboards.html Once I figured out the ONLY way to flash with the UEFI was with a bootable disk...

late reply to this, I know, but I just tried to update to 7.4 and it ended up with KP. Due to leaving my build well alone because it was running like a champ I'd forgotten all of the things I did/learned when I made this it took me ages to remember how to restore in to a bootable state (Time...

    Lion Z68MX-UD2H-B3 installation problem

You probably know this already, but the DSDT should be placed on the desktop - I think MB is set up to look for it there. Cheers D.

Forget about the fancy wireless card, use a wireless bridge

I did exactly this a year or so ago after my one of my homeplugs stopped working. I used a Netgear WNR2000 v2 and DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/13/11) firmware. Works a treat and is actually faster than the supposed 200Mbps homeplugs. D.

It was a 2600 not a 2600K for that price. If you put the extra ££ a 2600K would cost into a graphics card, that might not be a bad idea....if that's possible to do (is it..??). cheers D.

Hi Kourun the 2600 will not work, you need the 2600K in order to use the HD3000 graphics. Or in fact any CPU with the HD3000 on board. cheers D.

That setting is enabled, but it's hit or miss it seems as to whether OSX and Geekbench actually see & display the full speed of the RAM. As I said above, if I click About This Mac, memory is reported as 1333 but if I click on More Info then it's reported as 1600. Geekbench only reports it as...

Just bumping to inform people that new RAM has been installed and everything is working very well. Installed and moved everything over to a Crucial M4 SSD and it really does fly now. A 4GHz overclock helps as well. I can't recommend this setup enough due to the lack of any hassle in setting it...

    Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3-B3

I built my first hack last week using it's smaller brother, a GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 and it's been great and everything works: sleep/resume, audio, LAN and no artefacts from the integrated HD3000 graphics. It was a very easy install. viewtopic.php?f=54&t=48750 cheers D.

Make Boot Disk with Carbon Copy Cloner & MultiBeast?

Yes, all is good here as well - the clone acccepted Multibeast with my original install settings (except the Lnx2Mac ethernet: that wouldn't install on the clone) and I'm glad it's working as before, only much quieter. Glad you got it sorted! D.

Make Boot Disk with Carbon Copy Cloner & MultiBeast?

I installed 10.7.3 last week for the first time using Unibeast and it was flawless - I installed it on a USB hard drive as I didn't have a big enough flash drive to hand. I'm currently installing Multibeast on to a Carbon Copy clone of my Lion boot drive to see if I can boot from the (quieter)...

    ssd failures

I've had a Kingston (rebranded Intel) SSD in my Mac Mini for almost 2 years I think and it's never missed a beat. I've had a Crucial M4 in my Win7 HTPC for 5-6 months and it's great, although it's only used for movies. SSD's have never been better or cheaper than they are right now... D.
