    Upgrading Processor

Not a 100% smooth transition...first the computer wouldn't boot. I reseated the CPU and everything seemed fine, until I shut down the computer. Then it wouldn't boot, kept getting kernel panics, but before I could get a picture (how do you get a good pic of a kernel panic at the Apple boot...

    Upgrading Processor

I picked up a good CPU cooler just to be safe! The CPU cooler I have now works for what I've got, but since I'm changing things up it's not a bad idea to upgrade it too! I will get back to you once the new CPU arrives (should be today or tomorrow) and let you know how the install process goes!

    Upgrading Processor

How did you swap out the SSDT??? Do I swap out the processor and just start it up? Or is there a process I should follow? I've got a basic understanding of all this. 5 years later still a "noob" to this! Specifics (even a link to a procedure) would be most helpful! And Thank you!!!!

    Upgrading Processor

I have a build from 2011, and she is getting a little long in the tooth. OK in tech terms she's ancient! However, I don't really use her for much, play a few games, surf the net etc. I'm not a power user by any stretch. The lag has been getting worse and worse over time. I tried adding RAM...

Mavericks: No Audio - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

I'm sure it's an isolated incident. When I ran MultiBeast I selected the bare minimum for my system, and the restarted. I got hung up at the Apple Boot screen with the spinning icon. I reinstalled Mavericks and tried again, this time I did everything step by step, and it got hung up on the...

    Mountain Lion Audio Help

I can't get sound on my build now that I've installed Mountain Lion. I don't speak jargon so EVERYTHING I've been reading in the forums is complete and total gibberish to me. I get the S/L/Extensions, and the like...what I need is a simplified version that can be taught to anyone. I want it...

    Hackintosh iMac???

I have a Hackintosh build from a few years ago, it's still running great, and is not really that out of date (thankfully). However, I was online and I noticed there's solutions out there to build an all-in-one PC...kind of like an iMac. I was wondering if it was possible to do with a...

    Unable to install Lion

Interestingly enough I got the new power supply hooked it up and the Lion USB was still not recognized. I started tweaking the BIOS (carefully) and got the computer to recognize Lion USB but the Lion Installer didn't see the internal HD anymore. After a little more tweaking I gave up and reset...

    Unable to install Lion

This is great for getting the computer running with Snow Leopard, what about the problem with installing Lion and the USB not being recognized? Any thoughts? FYI - I can't test anything at this exact moment, the power supply died on the build last night...the fan stopped spinning completely...

    Unable to install Lion

No I don't have another one, at least not another SanDisk, from what I was told SanDisk is the one I should be using. Advice? Is there a way to test the USB drive?

    Unable to install Lion

Earlier this year I built a Hackintosh/CustoMac (whatever you want to call it) using the instructions here for Lion. A few months ago their hard drive died, it was a complete loss, they have been using my spare computer, but now I need it back. Anyways, back to my point. I bought a new...
