How did you fix it?

My Sierra hackintosh crashed after power failure. I was able to get it to boot, but now the resolution is wrong and preferences are not showing my resolutions anymore. What to do?

That got me a bit further. Now I make it to the half way mark then it dies with a circle with a slash through it. (Image attached). Tried -x maxmem=4096

Thanks for this. I was able to get Mountain Lion up and running after a few stumbles. My contribution to those having trouble would be to always run repair permissions before you reboot, and manually delete the from library/caches. I'm not sure which of this got me through it, but one of them...
