    USB WIRLESS DONGLE!

AWLL6070 works on 10.6.5, 10.6.6 & 10.6.7 with the Ralink RT2870 driver, at least for me. There is a guy on Ebay selling them for $14 with free shipping. They are kinda big and bulky though like the 600N mentioned.

USB WiFi Dongles - The Thread

Thanks to this thread I was able to finally get a USB wifi adpater that works. I currently upgraded my router-modem to a netgear somethingorother. The point being that it choked my internet from the Mac down to about 1kbps which is obviously too slow for use of any kind. I was using the AWLL6075...

In Search of the Best Hackintosh Graphics Card

It's too bad Novabench doesn't show the revision of the software. I know that the newer posts are using a revised version. For example if you go to https://novabench.com/topmacs.php as of the time of this post the average top scores for 2011 Macs are around 900-1200 and I know my old e5200 &...

    Problems with video card...

Pretty sure the RAID only setting is AHCI if you only have one hard drive installed. RAID only.. not RAID Auto-detect ATA. The GTX260 can cause blank screens, mine did. I had to install a GT240 graphics card at installation then create a DSDT. Swap the GT240 out for the GTX260 and reboot. This...

Looking to Upgrade from an E5400. What Core2Quad to get?

Sorry for the bump. Maybe this post will help other broke old school hackintosh owners. Just ordered a brand new Q8400 for $113 shipped from Superbiiz using the $15 off promo SPOOKY. I know, I could have picked up a used Q6600, that may or may not work, and OC'd it for a bit more money...

Looking to Upgrade from an E5400. What Core2Quad to get?

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I"ll just stick with what I have until either prices for the Core 2 Quads drop some more or I upgrade to a whole new hackintosh. I'm at 3.44Ghz stable 24/7 and can hit 3.8Ghz stable 24/7 I just decided to keep it cooler for rendering. I'm guessing that puts...

Looking to Upgrade from an E5400. What Core2Quad to get?

I really don't want to spend over $100. Here is My Build I currently have which is serving me well but, I sure could use a bit more power on the rendering front and I think the most pain free upgrade would be just to pop in a Quad. Motherboard is a GA-G41M-ES2L I'm considering either a Q6600...

    So many ugly cases!

Yep, that is a great case. My Win7 Machine sports this fashionable budget case. My Hackintosh, on the other hand, is wearing a Cooler Master Elite 330. Which looks "decent" for a $40 case other than the silver pin striping and blue led power button. It is an easy case to work with though and...

In Search of the Best Hackintosh Graphics Card

I personally don't like ATI because most of their cards do not work properly in MAYA. I always had Viewport and draw distance issues with them. I think Macintosh is making a big mistake by moving to them. IMO, get the $99 GTX260 deal going on at Tiger Direct! It's also the Core 216 version and...

In Search of the Best Hackintosh Graphics Card

Awesome! :headbang: I just bought the exact same one as well and had a $10 off coupon too. I also picked up a bigger power supply to go along with it.

    Parts Round Three...

For one, I'd go with DDR5 for the graphics card and I wouldn't get a GT220 as it's just too slow for the price. If I had a bunch-o-money I'd try a GeForce GTX 285 1GB. Also, make sure that Lite-On is a REAL Lite-On and not a fake/NEC. My Asus DRW 24B3LT is really just a good old Lite-On with an...

How do I force a custom resolution with BNC cables and a CRT

Thank you again ematos that worked. It allowed me to extract the EDID from the registry on the windows machine. I can now just copy and past the data I need with Synergy over to the Mac and I'm good to go. Although, it looks like I don't even need to do anything else as the default GTF is what...

How do I force a custom resolution with BNC cables and a CRT

Well, SwitchResX works (thanks) but, I'm a little worried about switching my monitor too often. I dug up the FW900 user manual but, it doesn't list the pixel clock values although I've read on some forums it can do 400. I got everything else though like, vertical and horizontal frequency ranges...

How do I force a custom resolution with BNC cables and a CRT

If I edit the com.apple.Boot.plist with >2048x1280x32@85< I get the resolution when the OS is loading. However, once the OS has completed loading the desktop the resolution reverts to whatever I have it set for in System Preferences. I can't select 2048x1280, or any 16:10 resolution for that...

    New System GA-G41M-ES2L & GT240

Sorry for bump, actually I'm not. Anyway, I'm installing MacOSX right now as I type this. So I wanted to post some issues with this particular motherboard that should be addressed to make things easier for noobs like me. * I'm installing using iBoot and multibeast by following this guide...
