I don't know if I understood you correctly. I'm running 10.13.6, should I just put 10.13.0 apfs.efi into clover/drivers64UEFI folder and removing ApfsDriverLoader-64.efi. Or do I also need to overwrite the one in usr/standalone/i386 folder with the 10.13.0 apfs.efi version? Goal is to speed up...

As said before, I wouldn't take RX 590 as it isn't tested well enough. RX 580 or Vega 56 are the way to go

Both are supported. Gigabayte board is smaller, so you can put it in a smaller case if u want that. If you'll be buying 9th gen cpu (9700k or 9900k) make sure that the board is shipped with the latest bios, otherwise buy the 8700k.

370 bards support 9th gen Cpus with bios update Gigabyte Z370M-D3H bios f10 - look at attached pic You could get some z390 boards to work, research this forum, but there are more problems with them compared to the older and tested 370 ones

Just did a timeline test. 1 min timeline edit with 20 different 10bit 4k video files. Some warp stabilization, adjustment layer with color correction, some titles. OpenCL/Metal timeline render in/out - 1:15sec Software (CPU) timeline render in/out - 3:38 sec BUT, there is a lot of performance...

I would take 370 board with 9th gen processor. Would take RX580 instead of RX 590. 32GB Ram Wouldn't bother with Liquid cooler, would install Black Rock 4.

Mostly working with GH5 4k 10bit files. Export and timeline render times are similar if not better than 1070 I replaced.

Changed SMbios to 14,2, ditched Whatevergreen. All working :)
