Yes it is a desktop. I could give it a try, but I have nothing to connect the motherboard to a hard drive, so would it work if I install MacOS onto an external one? USB 3.0 should be fast enough.

What about this setup (the setup of a friend): Intel Core i7 10700F AMD Radeon RX580 32GB RAM
  3. SpatialZebra

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

So if I wanted to get MacOS Mojave working on a machine as cheap as possible (laptop), what would I need?

According to this, it is kind of possible to run Moutain Lion. Anyway, what for? The GarageBand edition of OS X Mountain Lion is probably not worth it, and not even sure I can install it. I do have another computer with an Nvidia GeForce GTX1660Ti M, but unfortunately it has an AMD Ryzen 7 3750H CPU

And technically if I had the edition of the Inspiron 1520 with an Nvidia GT8600M, I guess it would probably work, since the iMac 7.1 has it and upgrading the CPU to a T9300 allows you to run Mojave on it...

So it means Mountain Lion can kind of works, but not really? I don't really understand what it means...

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

So I can't run a 64 bits software? This is weird, the CPU is 64 bits supported, and I am running windows 10 64 bits

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

A lot of things have been upgraded in my Inspiron 1520, so the default specs you can find online don't match anymore

OK. So if I try El Capitan, will the app store spot that my "mac" can't go any further and let me download the El Capitan version of GarageBand?

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

My machine is old but runs windows 10 just fine, and windows 10 is way more ressource demanding than MacOS Mojave!

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

Then I think I won't hackintosh my device. As I said I am doing it for GarageBand, I only have the Mojave edition. If I can somehow get the Sierra edition, which is even better (the pitch correction of it is much better than all newer versions of GarageBand), then it would be worth it. But for...

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

This is weird, some macs that have unsupported GPU by dosdude patcher can be set to Intel HD Graphics and it works... Anyway I am going to check the graphics

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

The iMac 7.1 is supported by dosdude patcher if the CPU is upgraded to a Penryn Core 2 Duo, such as mine, the T9300

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

I didn't check device manager, I will check that tomorrow, I don't have the computer next to me right now

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

I was able to get windows 10 running fine on it thanks to an SSD, and there is no information about the graphics. In CPU-Z, as far as I remember (I can check again tomorrow), it says Intel Graphics

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

I know the Dell Inspiron 1520 very well. There is an edition with a (detachable) graphics card, which like you said is either a GT8400M or GT8600M, and there is an edition with no graphics card, the one I have.

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

I was able to get GarageBand running fine on a mac of about the same age, and with only 2GB RAM.

    << Solved >> Stuck to a logo

I was installing, and I got this screen. Why wouldn't my machine be compatible with MacOS Mojave? The same CPU in macs can run Mojave thanks to Dosdude1 patcher, so why wouldn't it be possible in my case? There is no video card, the CPU does everything. It has 4GB RAM. The whole setup should be...
