clearly see that in your git update lately :))
I am at 11.6.8 big sur with lastest OC and kext (upgraded from yours)
although there is some bug with networking after update from OC 7.0.5 to 8.0.3 and 11.6.8 big sur: after fresh install no network devices got detected (included the broadcom...
I did try diskgenius last time after googling around
It claimed to work and it seemed to work at first. But when I hit apply button it just say it cannot
And the UI is horribly bad
my work is mostly on windows so I opt for NTFS + mounty for macOS (cause it s free :D)
thank you, best wishes for you and your family
I did try exFAT for data partition but got errors later, and it cannot be fixxed (forgot what the error is exactly)
So I have to move all my data to an ext HDD, reformat the internal HDD back to NTFS and using mounty on MACOS
the exFAT also cannot...
@mksim: if your w10 EFI broke, use the tools in bugsb's git to recreate it (I myself use Macrium Reflect)
leave opencore EFI on the HDD, then set the HDD as 1st boot in BIOS
thats how I got dual boot the easy way
ah, so the NVME that have 2 notch is x2 only, now it make sense
I did see some but cannot get my hand on those for testing
about the WD blue, I totally agree with you, go for it
so they wont have to stock up the "M2 SATA only" connector, thus will eliminate the risk of picking wrong component during assembling process and to get better deal with connector manufacturers...?
below is the pics from my S410UA
I think this link only show you how to replace the SSD, not...
IMHO you should go with the samsung, they got the lead in ssd technology now
Just make sure it will compatible with MACOS (some ssd dont do well with MACOS, I dont remember which exactly)
for the old ssd you can get this to turn it into an 2.5" sata ssd and fit it into the hdd slot
search for...
and for the B & M key thing
I did meet NVME that have both B & M key (chinese brand)
So it is best to google the controller to determine it is really SATA or PCIE (NVME)
I tried an DRAMless Orico NVME 512gb
https://www.orico.cc/us/product/detail/4098.html
It use the ref board of SM2263XT controller and NAND from toshiba (if my memory serves me well)
almost all chinese brand NVME use this board / controller
about your concern why this specific platform does not support NVME (I myself did try to put an NVME in and fail): I think ASUS purposely doing that to set the speed limit versus higher tier (zenbook). It can also because at that time the M2 SATA reached it end and manufacturers offer really low...
I think you dig a little too hard on those "specs announce by the manufacturer"
actually "manufacturing" an ssd is quite easy comparing to hdd: they just choose the controller, design the PCB for that controller base on reference design (or use ref board from the controller maker), slap the NAND...
I still have the original 256gb one from Micron (Crucial) which host both W10 and BigSur
all SSD have the same PCB thickness, the NAND chip and controller have the same (most of) thickness
so the difference is in the included heatsink. Some have paper sticker, some have metalic sticker, some...
as long as it is M2 SATA, 2280 size and below, it will fit
for shorter one (2260, 2242, 2230) you need an adapter or you can just tape it down
single and double side is all ok
@whatnameisit actually I ve just start this hackintosh thing during the last chinese new year holiday (mid February this year)
And when I first read the dortania guide it said I should go with the lasted Catalina version rather than going for Big Sur
So I'm on 10.15.7 19H15 from the very...
I see. I just thought that I would stick with Propertree like the dortania guide said
So I ve never try any auto config app. Will give it a try next time
Can you recheck if your current EFI (which can boot Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey) has the MinDate and MinVersion set to anything other than...
