Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Tested on my Sonoma build with this same hardware (Asus B550I). Messages / FaceTime on this build connect as expected when using USB-connected iPhone as hotspot. Messages immediatelly downloaded the pre-existing content for the conversation with my wife's iMessage account. Sending and...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

I connected my iPhone today to this build, did the entire trust device dance and wanted to see if some continuity camera features work. - using iPhone as microphone works - using iPhone as video camera does not. It appears in QuickTime Player as camera but fails to start the recording - "take a...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

I already did that, twice; when initially making this build and then going nuclear again (post #10 in this thread). I'm well versed in the drill and know the required steps but this one just don't want to give in. Continuing to poke and peek. :)

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

In the mean time, I poked around this build without getting anywhere near the desired outcome. I am pretty sure that Intel AX200 WiFi card is irrelevant. I disabled it in BIOS and use only Ethernet — completely the same result: iCloud works perfect, iMessage / FaceTime nope. So it's something...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Many thanks for extensive attempts. I agree is completely strange it does not work here, there is no sensible reason what it could be. I am now more than positive that iServices login succeeds but that something else in Apple's code fails when it comes to syncing the state of the services -...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Maaan, I feel that I spent hours doing various tests and stuff before making the thread. Turning on/off various SSDTs, playing with random quirks offered by OpenCore. Madness lies that way, I tell ya... Nothing worked even though it should just be working out of the box.

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Good approach, I'll have to do the same to avoid making the build un-bootable.

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

I never tried ProperTree. OCAT serves me really good for over a year, it automatically updates config.plist structure when I get newer OC, can update kexts automatically. Really nice tool that simplifies keeping up with the OC releases. I did find one particular issue while working on this -...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Here's the entire EFI I am using for the Sonoma test build. Monterey Asus build using pretty much the same components is my kid's computer so I can't get to it anytime, he uses it for school. It's the same BIOS version, same motherboard so it makes sense it behaves the same. I also have...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

I know how it should look like :), I have that same display on my Gigabyte builds where iMessage is working fine. This entire window on Asus builds is disabled, nothing is clickable and loader just spins endlessly.

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Maybe a consequence of the manual removal of the SMBIOS, I just rewrote over them in TextMate. reset-nvram entry is visible in the OC picker, not sure why you think I need anything more. SSDT-GPRW is my creation since Monterey, fixes the sleep on this particular build. It works great in...

BTW, this is how it looks like. Just spins forever.

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

On the Sonoma test build, I logged out from iCloud, reboot, clean nvram, reboot, opened EFI and generated all 4 points, completely fresh set of SMBIOS data. Then reboot, clean nvram, reboot, got into Recovery, erased macOS partition with Disk Utility and re-installed Sonoma. Waited until it got...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Plot twist: it doesn't :) I have another build where I am testing viability of Sonoma for my work, also using the same Asus board. Behaves exactly the same.

Did not do this after reboot. Makes sense to try.

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Every build I do is fresh install, never copied from another drive. Then I just login into iCloud and machine is pretty much ready after syncing. I tried something tonight, on both machines: - logged out of iCloud, then restarted - open Keychain Access and do "Reset Default Keychains" in its...

Curious case of iServices not working with Intel AX200 on certain motherboards

Scene: two builds, both running Monterey 12.7.2 one is Gigabyte B550-I Aorus Pro AX board, with Intel AX200 Wi-Fi/Bt card another is Asus ROG Strix B550I board, with the same card Both builds are running under OpenCore 0.9.7, using OpenIntelWireless 2.2.0 (Monterey) driver which works great...

Attempting to Hack macOS Ventura and Sonoma to Support Broadcom Wi-Fi 6 Cards

I have to say, reading this entire thread was nothing if not pure geek pleasure. Awesome stuff.
