Hey guys. I've been having a super frustrating time getting my rig to work properly with the Sapphire Pulse RX 580. For whatever reason it will just crash randomly when I'm working with Photoshop files, simple Final Cut projects, and even watching 4K content. The card worked out of the box...
One last reply on this. I'm a week in and officially calling this solved as flipping the graphics card switch fixed all of my issues - no crashes whatsoever. I still have no idea why or how this fixed it but if anyone is having this issue I suggest trying it. Hopefully this thread can help someone.
Weird. Yeah, I have no experience with it. If anyone has info on what this particular switch does I'd like to know. I couldn't find any info on it, nor could I find a manual for my RX 580... I must have thrown mine away by accident.
Alright, 2 days in and no crashes. This is what has finally done the trick for me (fingers crossed). I did some digging around and found out that there is a toggle switch on my video card that apparently switches the card from UEFI to Legacy from what I understand. It was toggled to the right...

I did some digging around on the forum and found that disabling Open CL in Photoshop helped people with crashing. It seems to work for the time being but I need to keep testing more files before calling this solved.
Bumping this thread since I see several of you have the same card. I've been having a super frustrating time getting my rig to work with the RX 580. For whatever reason it will just crash randomly when I'm working with Photoshop files, Final Cut projects, and even watching 4K content. The card...
It looks like I spoke too soon guys. It's back to crashing randomly.:banghead::mad: I'm really ready to give up with this machine but I've spent so much money on it that it's hard to think about starting over from scratch or even maybe buying an older Mac Pro.
I did try a clean install...
I swear the card was seated properly in the first slot... even my old card. I really have no idea but I didn't want to try the first slot again after the second slot worked lol
Alright guys, I think I'm finally ready to call this one solved. I went ahead and pulled the card out (safely) and totally forgot I have an extra PCI-E slot and decided... "hey, this is worth a shot" - plugged the card into that slot, plugged the HDMI in, booted up, opened the same files that...
1. No, because the UHD 630 is HDMI.
2. I'm using the RX 580's DVI port which is the only port that will work without a crash. I just need to find a fix for the pink screen.
Bump.
Any of you guys have any other ideas on how to get rid of the pink screen in Mojave without forcing RGB mode?
I've tried most things like injectintel, radeondenit, and trying different system definitions.
Here is a screenshot from IORegistryExplorer. Everything looked fine to me.
Also, when i have the pink screen the peak resolution is 1440p at 60hz which would be fine by me if I could get rid of the pink screen another way than RGB mode.
It's the Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming, all my correct parts and specs are on my profile. All ports I tried are on the RX 580. DVI is the only port that would not crash on me. I will try to check bullet point 1 as soon as I can.
^I may check the first option later. I did find a temporary solution but I'm still not totally satisfied, maybe someone can help me with this other issue.
I went ahead and plugged a cable into the DVI port just to see if it would do the same thing and guess what... no crash at all! Photoshop...
At first it was just Photoshop and Final Cut Pro X. Just now I was watching a 4k video on YouTube via Firefox and it decided to crash during that as well which has never happened. So... it has to have something to do with my graphics card... I just don't know what to do or try anymore. I still...
