Glad it worked out for you. I had a problem with video too after an update. I fixed it by booting off the USB and then copying the EFI clover files from the USB drive and replacing the ones that were on the hard drive.

Maybe try a fresh install, following the guide from this site, or can you revert to your old system? I got my 10.13.1 install working, no usb 3. I got 2 ssds, one is a photoshop scratch disk, makes PS and Brigde really fast. I’m using the mobo built in video too.
