    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I noticed that the VGA LED was on on the motherboard so I tried resetting CMOS but still no picture - however now I’ve got no VGA LED lit either!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey, have tried the above, but with GPU removed and using the DP port on the motherboard, I’m getting a blank screen without even seeing the BIOS menu. It does sound like something is happening - the computer is on and HDD indicator is blinking but no picture at all. Any ideas? I take it it...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ, thanks again for all your work over the years on this build! I’m finally ‘retiring’ mine, but will continue to use it as a sort-of NAS server. With that in mind, I’m stripping it down to make it as simple and efficient as possible. For the last couple of days I’ve been trying to...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

So booting using the UEFI one once, and now booting using the OpenCore one seems to have fixed the issue.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey, yes that's definitely the case, I was just experimenting along those lines as you replied. I'm a bit bamboozled however (as usual). My boot options from BIOS show a couple of UEFI partitions, my Windows Boot Manager and one called 'OpenCore'. I was under the impression that we just...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi, thanks for swift reply! I thought you were right as I had initially overlooked that... but alas the issue still persists. I've reset NVRAM too in case that could help. As far as updating the binaries - I replaced my whole 'Resources' folder and also the Hfsplus.efi driver. Still no dice :(...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Another strange quirk from this update - the OC picker is now loading on every boot despite ShowPicker=False. Here's my boot section of config.plist: When it loads its also displaying an EFI partition alongside my Mac and Windows disks. I'm sure it didn't do that previously. Any reason OC...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey, I'm using a UA Apollo over TB3 via Sonarworks Reference Systemwide, seems to be Systemwide causing the issue. Must be some sort of clash there. A bit annoying but not the end of the world. Re the 'csr-active-config' changes - in layman's terms what am I actually doing...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Figured it out, remembered to use ProperTree instead of TextEdit (sorry!). Changing to 67000000 DID work, system now updated. Changed it back to '00000000'. Is this now likely to be required for each update? Weird that I've never had to do it before! Also, now getting glitchy YouTube audio in...

Thanks for the speedy response Casey, forgive my ignorance, am I changing this 'AAAAAA==' entry to '67000000'?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi everyone, has anyone had an issue with updating to 11.3.1 where the update just doesn't seem to 'take'? By that I mean the process seems to have worked, couple of reboots, usual Apple logo with '8 minutes remaining', reboot again... but OS seems to think I'm still on 11.2.4? I've been keeping...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hey @CaseySJ, I'm attempting your procedure as per post no. 17210. The strange thing is, the first step, where you say it 'should not work', works for me with no power cable plugged into my PSU. I can then run 3 backups, apparently successfully, but then using the checksum command each one is...

Hi Casey - sorry for the late reply was making a fresh backup just in case. Signing out made no difference - if anything it could have been a touch longer. Was a full minute from hitting 'Restart' to it actually switching off. Just unresponsive desktop wallpaper in between.

Hi @CaseySJ - thanks again for your help with BIOS problem  Big Sur installation went pretty well and everything seems to be working, BUT... (I knew I'd be back!) when I restart or shut down the system hangs for about 20-30s before shutting down. It restarts and/or boots fine (and...

Thanks, will try the CMOS Reset. Yeah used a couple of different FAT32 drives, all 16GB. Even formatted one on a Windows machine just incase but no dice! I've opened a support ticket with Gigabyte so hopefully they'll be able to help if CMOS doesn't do the trick. Ta
