    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Strange, I noticed my Hackintosh is showing my CPU as "3.19 GHz Unknown" also now... I could have sworn it showed the name when I first installed it. (High Sierra btw)

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I have an update on my Vega 64 upgrade. I purchased a used reference Sapphire Vega 64 (non nitro) from ebay for ~$410 and did some tests with it. The fan speed issues were present at first, but the kext seemed to work pretty well as a fix. Sadly the fan speed does not scale with the increased...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I made the exact build as you last month, and it was a lot easier than I expected it to be! If you stick to those parts and follow the guide everything should go smoothly. :)

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the reference Sapphire Vega 64 (non nitro). It seems like the safest bet considering the issues stated above with the Nitro+ and XFX cards. There are some good deals on ebay for used cards, but I assume they've all had crypto mined on them... I wonder if...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Thanks for the response! Do you know the reasoning why the buyers guide only includes the Sapphire NITRO+ Vega 64, and not a reference design?

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I've been using my build for about a month now and it's working great! very few issues. However I was thinking about upgrading to a Vega 64 from the RX580 Pulse. Is there any version of the Vega 64 that has been reported to work flawlessly like the RX 580 Pulse does? I noticed some comments...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I just completed my hackintosh install and everything seemed to go pretty smooth... The only problem I notice is that only half my RAM is recognized (the same as in your original post). You noted that it is no longer an issue but it seems to be affecting me still for some reason.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I just finished building my PC and will be installing Hackintosh tonight! Do you recommend using HFS+ or APFS for my drive? I'm using a Samsung EVO 960. The improved performance of APFS would be nice, but I've heard a lot of negatives when running it on a hackintosh. Is it safer to just go...

    Would a i7 8700 (non-K) be an identical setup as a i7 8700K? ChaosMokey's post had me a bit worried..
