@ShortFormErnie I wanted to say thanks again for being patient with me. Made a few noob mistakes but I have a better handle on the process because of it.
I'm considering getting the Broadcom card and getting bluetooth and wifi working. As of now, I use a dock and get internet connectivity that...
OK so I had redone all of my DSDT/SSDT patching because I had tried a few patches to get things working and wanted clean versions with only the patches I was actually using. In doing so I did not apply the patch in the OP of this thread. Actually my first time through that section of the OP I...
I installed ACPIDebug.kext to L/E
Applied "Add DSDT Debug Methods" and "Instrument EC Queries" to my DSDT.dsl
Saved it as DSDT.aml and replaced the one I had in the Patched folder with it.
I rebooted and pressed the keys while viewing system.log in Console but saw no entries.
An odd thing I did...
OK so I have the backlight working via the slider in System Preferences/Display. I can't seem to get the buttons mapped. I followed this guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-patching-dsdt-ssdt-for-laptop-backlight-control.152659/ but am not getting results in Console for either PS2 or...
I was planning on moving it after testing because I read that EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other is guranteed to load before AppleHDA does. I'll move it and try again.
I added AppleALC.kext to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other and tried setting inject to 3,13,28, and a couple others but nothing. There is no sound device in System Properties/Sound.
Thank you for the quick reply and words of encouragement. I'll give AppleALC a go. You just gave me an idea though. I ordered a dock that has audio the other day. I plan to use this mostly when docked. Perhaps the external audio will work better.
Ok so I am embarrassed to say the following code in my plist was , in fact, not disabled:
<key>Comment</key>
<string>0x19160000/etc, 32MB BIOS, 19MB framebuffer 9MB cursor bytes (credit RehabMan)</string>)
<key>Enabled</key>
Beyond the fact my hex was different I was also viewing it in the...
Thanks to you I am able to get back into the system.
For me, that setting was already checked. I unchecked it and was able to boot although the display had lines at boot and I was seeing artifacts while using terminal. So as you said this is suitable for testing.
A few followup questions...
UPDATE:
I patched my DSDT and here is the appropriate screenshot/EFI package. Looks like I cleaned up the ACPI errors but still halts on a similar section.
Hello All,
Let me preface with I have never attempted something like this before but I have read the guides here multiple times before beginning the process.
I have created the Clover USB installer, installed High Sierra on an external SSD (I would prefer this type of setup, however, if it...
