Just an FYI to anyone else having this problem, I solved this last night. There's a setting in the BIOS for the gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 to disable errors on boot. Now I can boot to Lion without a usb keyboard attached.
What I'm getting is a POST error, so I'm not sure how turning off the bluetooth settings would make any difference.. but I don't really know what I'm doing anyway.
I'm also getting minor graphics glitches, but I'm not running remote desktop... examples: small line across itunes, strange white patches after exiting screen saver, etc.. It's not the end of the world, but it would be nice to find a solution.
I posted this before, but has anyone else had...
I've got a keyboard question too... I hooked up an apple bluetooth keyboard and it worked great but after I shut down and rebooted I got an error that no keyboard was present. I had to attach a USB keyboard just to get Lion to load.. is there any way to get around this?
Success!! Last night I got my new GA-H61N-USB3 motherboard in the mail and used the Unibeast method to install Lion directly. Worked like a charm. The only hiccup I experienced was a lack of audio from the board, but the outboard usb DAC I have worked great.
I'm assuming there must be...
Yes, but it was a very old one and I'm don't have a whole lot of confidence in it. That's an option that I'm going to consider later to see if I can salvage the board.
I skipped a step in the process to update Snow Leopard, restarted, during boot I saw some message that firmware was updating and then the video outputs would not work at all. Tried resetting CMOS, taking the battery out, everything. I ran out of options so I bought a new one. I suppose it...
Before my new GA-H61N-USB3 comes in the mail I want to make sure I've got the steps right for doing this install.. last time I did something wrong and bricked a motherboard.
My hardware is as follows:
MI-008 Tower Black P4 Chassis with 250W Itx Psu+sata Power Supply
Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 Intel...
Good call. I actually already have that card. I always thought the analog outputs from it sounded like crap, but I forgot it had an spdif out. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try.
I tried all of those things and still got nothing. The lights on the board come on and the fan spins, but nothing on the monitor. I ended up ordering another motherboard last night. I had some leftover Amazon credit so what the hell. Does anyone know if I can send this thing back to Gigabyte...
I tried doing a hard reset of CMOS on the board and that didn't work. The reason I can't update BIOS is because I'm not getting a signal from the board to the monitor. I'm not even sure if the thing is booting up properly. In any event, I had some leftover Amazon store credit so I just burned...
I guess I'm not being clear, my apologies. When I start up my computer, I can't see anything, not even enough to get into the BIOS or anything. So I'm not sure how I could install SL without being able to see when I'm doing. To be clear, the problem I'm having isn't just when I try to boot...
The problem is I got no graphics...at all! I can't see anything, not even enough to reinstall SL. Should I restore CMOS values on the motherboard? This is so strange. I can't imagine when I did wrong to do this.
Reposted because I may not have posted in the right forum... I think I may have bricked my system.
Well damn. I bought all the parts to build the mac mini last weekend. It finally came in the mail yesterday and this morning I started putting everything together.
