On my system, before the clover screen displays, a gigabyte screen shows up first. On the bottom of that screen, it gives me a few options: F12 Boot Menu, etc. I press my F12 key then I'm given a list of boot devices. I chose UEFI USB Installer. I don't understand why it worked that way and...

For some reason, when double clicking on the external drive on the clover screen, I had the same problem. I went to the boot menu to choose and then it worked. After turning on your computer, when instructed on the screen, choose F12 Boot Menu. Choose UEFI with your USB name.

Finally am at the Disk Utility. My hard drive is named Mac HD which is on an internal Samsung SSD 850 drive. Is the Mac HD the OSX partition? Sorry that the photo is upside down. It's been a long day.

For some reason, when I double clicked on the external drive for my choice for booting device, it was not recognized. When I went into the boot menu and selected UEFI for the USB device then it worked.

Booted in verbose mode: only get a black screen with a circle with a backslash in place of the apple. Nothing else is on the screen.

I'm sorry, but how do I boot in verbose mode?

When I boot from my original USB drive the Apple and progress bar show up on the screen. When the progress bar gets to about 1/2 way, a circle with a backslash takes the place of the apple. Any ideas as to what is happening?

I'm unable to perform a pre-installation backup, as I'm in a booting loop. I backed my data up to an external HD a couple of days ago, however, I don't want to lose any data that was saved on my internal HD yesterday (which is a lot). Is there a way to reinstall my OSX without losing the data...

I checked the BIOS and it matches the original installation guide's BIOS values.
