macOS 10.15 Catalina: How to Mount Root Partition Read/Write for Post-Installation

I've seen steps outlined elsewhere regarding the use of Disk Utility within terminal to achieve these results, e.g., diskutil unMountdisk /dev/disk*s* (your numbers will be different), and one would use mount -w -t apfs /dev/disk*s* "/[location of your choice]/Macintosh HD/" and/or "/[location...

Catalina and HD3000 - Stuck at "IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3"

What you're asking for can be done, but even though Hackintosh isn't officially supported any where really, what you're wanting to do exceeds the bounds of the community here. If you have a booting system, I'd start with: Legacy-Video-patch Beyond that, bear in mind that graphics injection via...

Kernel Cache issue running sudo kextcache -I / on Catalina beta 6

I'm finding one has sometimes execute mount -uw /System/Volumes/Data as well. But YMMV.

    HP Elitebook 2560p and CATALINA

I did, but then almost immediately borked it by: running Rehabman's installer script (old kexts, I think), and by corrupting my config.plist by using Clover Configurator. It was up and running, but I got bit by the WiFi bug (quit working after 1st reboot), and had no audio. Otherwise fully...

HP EliteBook 2560P Display Mirroring To/From AppleTV on Mojave 10.14.6

Caveat lector: Non-metal graphics cards are not supported above macOS 10.13.x, and the following is representative of only my experience. That said, I have an HP EliteBook 2560P, with Intel HD 3000 graphics. All, AFAICT, is working flawlessly. The display panel is ostensibly limited to a...

[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Technically, running macOS is entirely unsupported on non-Apple branded hardware, correct? And I get that my setup isn't supported by the "official" guide here. Maybe we should have a guide for unsupported systems?

[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Interestingly, the installer--despite having the appropriate Voodoo kexts--insisted upon having both a USB mouse & keyboard; none of the integrated HID devices were recognized. This is not insurmountable, as external peripherals can be attached. It was also an incredibly, nightmarishly slow...

[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Mojave 10.14.5 on a ProBook 2560P with Intel HD3000 graphics. Can be done, but wasn't entirely fun getting it all working.

[Guide] Booting the OS X installer on LAPTOPS with Clover

    I've got them--that's what's strange... Procuring keyboard.

[Guide] Booting the OS X installer on LAPTOPS with Clover

Have made an USB installer with 10.14.5 following guide; boots properly, however once in installation it's asking for bluetooth mouse/keyboard (not recognizing integrated peripherals).

[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Not officially supported, but it does work using dosdude1's macOS Mojave patcher.

    Mojave Updates

The dosdude guy recommends reinstalling over top of existing install. I notice that convert to APFS is available in Disk Utility booted from install media if Macintosh HD is unmounted. Is this process non-destructive?

    Mojave Updates

Is there any workaround to install the 10.14.1 and above patches/updates to HFS+ volumes? I didn't convert to APFS when I upgraded to Mojave, but the combo update refuses to install.

Success -- Mojave on HP EliteBook 2560P

I think it's actually Symantec Antivirus (have to have it for VPN access).

Success -- Mojave on HP EliteBook 2560P

I'll let you know. Seems ok so far. No sleep, but it hasn't been working since High Sierra. Otherwise stable.

Success -- Mojave on HP EliteBook 2560P

HP EliteBook 2560P is based upon an Intel 6-series chipset, and sports HD3000 graphics. Not officially supported by Apple. This will be quick post. 1) Upgraded Clover bootloader to latest version; for some reason had to change my slide settings in config.plist from slide=0 to slide=128. 2)...

    macOS 10.13.3 Update

[Pertinent files will be uploaded at a later time]. Interesting behavior I've observed since applying 10.13.3 patch on a Sandy Bridge HP Elitebook 2560P: use of the rear USB ports results in an immediate reboot. The combo USB/eSata port on the right hand side of the laptop doesn't exhibit this...

    macOS 10.13.3 Update

Updated Lilu to latest release, lost WiFi again. Unmet dependencies in BrcmFixup. Reinstalled Lilu 1.2.1 & BrcmFixup, rebuilt bootcache. WiFi was back after reboot, and sleep is working again.

    macOS 10.13.3 Update

My normal procedure, prior to installation a point-release update like this, is to: 1) Do a git stash/pull on the Probook.git repo 2) Do a fresh download of Rehabman's software 3) Install the udpate; this usually take like 40 minutes, or so 4) Upon reboot, I'll login, noticing that WiFi again...

    macOS 10.13.3 Update

With each point release to High Sierra, on the hardware referenced in my profile, I: 1) Lose WiFi 2) Suffer from random reboots Resolving these issues, and restoring system stability, involves booting into single user mode, updating the bootcache from there, and/or running installation of...
