Upgrading Hackintosh from Monterey to Ventura went smoothly.
Copied existing Monterey volume to separate SSD. Made sure it was a bootable volume.
Grabbed latest OpenCore (0.9.6) and installed on adjacent EFI volume.
Grabbed the latest kexts for my setup.
Updated config.plist file appropriately...
I tried to do something similar (see Day1 note above) by just updating the kernel extensions, and it didn't work. Funny thing is that given I already had OC experience from a previous upgrade, revisiting Dortania's excellent guide and preparing a new EFI took less than an hour.
You're quite a...
Upgraded from BigSur 11.5 to Monterey 12.6. From OS download to installation, less than 30mins.
Day1
Initially, I had my Clover mindset and tried to use a previous config.plist with new kexts and OC 4.7. Didn't work.
Day2
I revisited Dortania's excellent guide (which I used last year for...
Thank you for sharing this PC assembly with us. Very impressive.
Not only do you have a skill for hardware (I loved the Apple logo spraying) but also a creative flair for software: your video presentation was very engaging.
Fantastic.
Hello Catalina!!! (update message from thread starter)
May 20, 2020
I've been on Mojave 10.14 for about a year now, and once again the setup had been rock solid. Not a single problem with the AMD RX 580 graphics card (it was definitely worth ditching the Nvidia card). Networking/bluetooth is...
27 April 2019
HighSierra had been rock-solid for me but I wanted to upgrade to Mojave for development reasons and use the new Xcode 10.2 (Swift 5). I had been holding out for Mojave-compatible Nvidia drivers (for my GTX 960 card) but as of April, still no dice. So, I took the plunge and bought...
Not sure why re-running the audio-only portion of MultiBeast 9.1 would prove successful since the installation kept failing because of an expired certificate. As soon as I downloaded MultiBeast 9.2 and ran it (no need to select audio only), it worked first time.
Oh well, all's good now.
Hi Cataclysmicvoid,
I didn't create any custom SSDT, and USB has problem-free (as I use it periodically for partition backups, thumb drive access)
The biggest issue was the motherboard audio (which required *2* multibeast settings - ALC1150 and HD100) and the sleep issue which was resolved...
Hi Yellocab, can you be more specific. What are you noticing? It's not working? Slow transfer speeds?
I personally haven't tried the USB C. I'm basically using the USB 3 ports to connect an external hard drive (for system backups) and some other peripherals (mouse and keyboard).
Thanks yellocab. I'm so happy with the build (my first hackintosh) and it has been remarkably stable. Instant wake from sleep mode is really convenient too.
The BIOS has hit version F20. How many revisions have there been since F4?!
That intermittent internet glitch sounds inconvenient. Does...
Thanks EV. I've obliged by uploading a couple of images.
To be honest, there's no big reason behind choosing iMac 14,2. I just noticed it appearing in a lot of El-Capitan related posts, so I decided to go with that. I probably could migrate to 17,1 but I'm in no hurry to change the config (I...
